Pilot controls
I think they are pretty good, but camera angles on ships like the Roland need to be fixed. Also a way to lock your position in space so you can look around without moving the ship would be nice. Plus an auto pilot feature would be nice.

if you press the x button, i believe, you can switch from auto to manual. manual will allow you to look around and let you control up, down, left and right with the wasd controls. left mouse button is forward, left ctrl is reverse, and q and e are roll. i hope that helps.

And you're looking for the hybrid camera view I believe, you can switch to it as well.

I always use hybrid. But i just mean like locking controls to your current spot so you can look around without the ship moving up and down. Honestly manual controls make me sick

I'm not sure what type of controls you're using, but your mouse movements should have zero effect on your actual manuvering.

My advice to all pilots is the following (after many, many hours as a pilot):

Set controls to Hybrid Camera, and Manual input. Then set your Throttle Control on the board in front of you to 'Precise'.

Personally, for me, I find binding Roll Left and Roll Right to Mouse 1 and Mouse 2 helpful as well.

If you have issues with motion sickness, I'd say that piloting is probably unwise in general. My fiancee has the same problem. =/
