If you can tell a good story, you can make a lot of money in short amounts of time. Entire industries depend on this feature and so does Gaming.
You'll get there, too, when you get older. When time becomes more sparse, you will cherish short good experiences over longwinded monotonous ones.
A lot of story-based indie games are around 2-4 hours long, especially horror ones. It's the sweet spot. See also: any game by Chilla's Art, or the Fears to Fathom series. You can have a pretty involved story and a bunch of scenarios without it getting repetitive, and it's actually achievable to create for smaller developers. Like, MiSide is basically made by two guys.
If you want a significantly longer game then you either need to look at bigger developers, or games that prioritise an iterative gameplay loop over telling a story.
The tone of your question implies you think the game is too short for the price and positive reaction it's received, but this is honestly a game worthy of it... considering it's made by two people it's incredibly polished and enjoyable. Encouraging and supporting developers like this is worth a lot more to me than chucking another $70 at a billion-dollar company.
