My craft cosplan for those interested:
1. Go creep on cappy in photo mode and take pictures of the ears and red button thing for reference.
2. Measure my head because I forgot my hat size like 10 years ago, lol.
3. Buy two navy BOTVELA Newsboy Caps from amazon (15$ ea).
4. Research hand sewing techniques since I forgot like 10 years ago, lol.
5. Examine the red button and research crafting techniques to find a way to make it.
6. Make the red button while I wait for hats in the mail.
7. Get hats and make template ears out of paper or cardstock of relative size to the hat in proportion to mita's.
8. Disassemble the cardstock template ears and trace the shape of the pieces onto the spare hat.
9. Cut out the outlines I just traced from the spare hat to be used for the final hat's ears.
10. Sew the edges that lead to the ear's tip and then fold the ears inside out so the frayed edge from the cut fabric is on the inside of the ears and not visible.
11. Decide how to sew the ears to the hat.. with my pre-research knowledge, I could sew the inside of the back of the ear base to the hat so no fabric edge is visible from the back, but I don't know how to sew the front base of the ear down from the inside. MAYBE drawing a thin rectangle of fabric glue to hold the fabric together while I use a curved needle to sew up from under the hat, through that fabric with the rectangle and then back down to the inside of the hat. This would achieve the desired result of a professional quality cappy hat but there is probably a better way to go about it, lmfao.
12. Apply the red button thing.
13. Cry myself to sleep wearing cappy's hat knowing we disregarded her pleas for help and left her with evil mita never seeing her again... :c
Thinking about it, I recall when you ask her if she ever takes the hat or -gloves- off, she responds with her wide eye expression and urgently re-routes the conversation suggesting she take something else off instead, playfully sticking her tongue out. Not only does this imply that cool mita would rather strip naked than show you what is under the gloves, but this is the only time she uses that expression not in response to the 'kind' mita.
At first I wondered if evil mita stole her hands like she stole the rest of her appearance... but cool mita's home portraits, she's wearing gloves... which then makes me wonder, does she only have robo mannequin hands with gloves on over them because of how she was designed and would rather strip than show that to the player or is that expression also a response about evil mita like the rest of her unique emotes?
