Both are sapient game constructs who are crazy. Both are basically God of their world, but Mita can bring players to her. Mita's the bigger threat.

Monika, or DDLC actually still has more depth to it's plot and character. My vote stil goes to Monika
Just Monika

My original monika.chr file has been sitting on my desktop for over 7 years, I never deleted her.
I transfered it every time I changed PC.

Not sure what characteristics of each are being discussed, but in terms of "fighting to death" or something, Monika would definitely and easily win since she can access metadata and modify the irl player's files, something Mita isn't even remotely able to do since she only affects the in-game players.
Also it's funny how the "battle" would actually be more fair if it was between Monika and Kind Mita instead, considering the latter's knowledge in computing and kernel.
Played both, I felt more attached to the Mita world, and they really captured that "dating" feelings IRL well with those different Mitas, really brings me back to the early days of dating my current GF.
DDLC however, felt like a really generic 2D "Ren-Ai"(Love) game with scary events, and Monika was always that side character trying to get attention.

With that being said, Mita is 100% better than Monika.
6 hours long cutscene of hot lesbian seggs between Monika and Mita DLC.

a meta VN is different enough from this style game that it's not really an apples to apples comparison.

Monika interacts with the player through the 4th wall, while Mita interacts with the players avatar, pulling him through their 4th wall, while the player sits behind the so-called 5th wall.

Mita seems to be limited to horror-movie villain style manipulations of the game world, whereas monika was able to straight up delete characters. But then, I haven't finished this one yet, so I guess it's too early for me to say.

It would be interesting if there were meta-interactions you could take with mita by manipulating game files, but i'm not really expecting that.

Still, it's such a strong character image, I'm surprised we don't see more of it.

In DDLC, we see Monika breaking down as she goes through an existential crisis. She doesn't really exhibit any malevolence towards her friends -- just an increasingly desperate prioritization of her own needs as she struggles to even think of her friends as real. And she even kept backups before modifying/deleting them. And she experiences genuine sorrow and regret when she finally understands what she has done.

Crazy Mita does not seem to be going through a crisis of any sort. She is very bitter and resentful, but she seems to fully understand her circumstances, and accepts the malevolent tendencies she has developed as she seeks some ambiguous combination of companionship and power.

I don't really feel the characters are very similar, beyond being the female lead in a meta horror game with romance story trappings.

Crazy Mita is also very envious and petty (and a hypocrite) judjing by how she mutilated Little Mita through countless killings that she lost ability to regenerate. Just because she was cuter than her.
