Still no female player? Embrace the yuri already.

I figured after all this time and with the big V-Day update they would have added an option for a female player character by now. I guess it would be pretty easy to mod but would be nice for an official option since all youd need is a single reskin. can't even remember any lines that would require a pronoun change offhand. I know there was a huge thread about this already with like 500 comments but from what i skimmed it was devolving extremely fast lol. i dont understand why people would be so opposed to letting MiSide have the equal potential to be a yuri experience. literally nothing about the writing demands this be male-oriented. I love all the Mitas and want to stay with them in pink and white bliss. I hope Peaceful mode can include this and an option to reject the 'urban legend' of the real world. Embrace post human evolution. Embrace yuri.

I think for it to be a mod is far easier alternative.

One aspect you fail to mention, is that it takes more than just "change some pronouns" to do something like this correctly. If I remember right, both Russian and Japanese change some words based on whether the speaker is male or female in a way that English language doesn't do. So you would need to do more of writing/voice acting and also correctly implement the necessary logic for all affected languages.

not disagreeing with this, but in my understanding that tends to be more of a thing when talking about a person to a third party rather than directly at them. like it'd be one thing if mita kept calling the mc Onii-chan or something, but its always darling or player. At least for Japanese dialogue which i played in it really didn't strike me that it would take a significant amount of editing especially since they already are working on a whole extra game mode and would actively have access to the voice actress still. Russian may be a different story so I can't speak to that.

idk russian but in japanese theres several ways to refer to oneself as a male and several to refer to oneself as a female, and mixing them drastically changes the way you present yourself to others.
atashi (I, female) is ok
boku (I, male) is ok
saying boku as a female will get people to see you as a tomboy or a lesbo.

you could say watashi which is neutral but then mc would look too formal for his looks and age, kinda out of character.

Yeah, i think it'd be cool, but realistically saying - probably never gonna happen, so i guess mods are the way. And no, you can't really just reskin it, still a lot of changes to the text is needed, in different languages, and just keeping in mind those are 2 ppl working on whole new gamemod, there's no way adding girl mc coming anytime soon. Besides laharl has a pretty good point - lgbt propoganda (yuri too ofc) is illegal in Russia, so chances of devs risking it to do yuri version is basically 0%, though there's not really a point of game where characters do anything like hugs or kisses, so maybe it wouldn't be a problem, yet nobody wanna risk it, so go for the mods. :stella_happy:

all fair points. the legality in Russia definitely does seem like something they wouldn't risk messing with. which is sad cause they're on the brink of making this game even more popular than it's become so far and i feel like diversifying that way would add to its international appeal. but hopefully they're able to do well enough with Peaceful mode and whatever else they have planned that it continues spreading the Mita love regardless.

I'm not sure about legal stuff, but from what I've read, it's only limited to "propaganda to minors" that is considered illegal. I'm not sure that a game that's clearly isn't targeted at children would qualify.

Also is anime with yuri themes banned or censored in Russia? Last that I heard it's not, but I haven't been to Russia for quite some time so things might've changed

This would require additional voice lines in Russian and possibly other pronoun-sensitive languages, since the game often uses gender-specific nouns and adjectives to describe the player character ("дурак," "глупенький" etc.), so I imagine that's also a factor.

But all can play in Gothic 1, and immersion don't hurt. Tomb Raider same. Maybe in world have place for stories without gender choose? You're don't have a problem with books, where main hero not be choosen reader, right?

I figure most who want this either want more immersion (for self insertion) or just like yuri in general. I don't consider yuri or yaoi inherently lgbt, for some it's just a thing they like
