YOU DON'T KNOW JACK Vol. 1 XL

Online Multi-Player?
Can you play against other people online with this? I'll purchase it in a heartbeat if so. If not it kind of misses the target IMO.

Also, I'm curious if they plan on releasing new updated trivia packs.

Edit: 640x480 max resolution? Nevermind. Pass.

What a blown opportunity.

Yep. i agree. I was so excited to see it here on Steam. Later i saw this post. And a few seconds after, I realized it´s not available in german language. So that´s all about to say.

It's the first game of the series and just a re-release. You can't expect them to include an Online-Mode for a game this old.

Again, I would have jumped on this in a heartbeat if they put any effort into modernizing it for today's PCs. There unfortunately aren't any other games on Steam like this and I think that this could have really took off with updated trivia packs, online play and a screen resolution that isn't just plain painful. Unfortunately rather than taking advantage of an untapped market and spending a little time and money they turned this into a lame cash grab.

this is beyond disappointing

The blown opportunity is on you, this game is lots of fun and personally I've been looking for it for a long time since I lost my CD over 15 years ago. The graphics are all text and a 1995 rendered screw, but you'd be amazed how creative they got with it, what is high resolution going to do? I recommend this game still as I've not since seen a game that quite fills the niche it does.

I still have the original games on CD that I purchased two decade ago so I'm not missing out on anything. I know how fun the games were but lets be honest here, a lot has changed in the past 20 years. There's just no point in purchasing this again.

Didn't expect it to as it is an old game.
Should say local multiplayer on the store page.

Is from the 90's! Great great trivia game. Funny as hell. I highly recommed joy2key for multiplayer.

Check out the console versions. Love it and fun as hell with your friends.

No, if you still have your CD I don't see a reason to buy this, unless it doesn't run on a modern OS as yes this release does run on my Windows 7 machine, and yes in low resolution. I still see it filling a particular niche though, when you have friends over who may have drank too much to read trivia or the dexterity of other games, or a girlfriend who doesn't play video games.

You mean both NetShow Versions of YDKJ back when Sierra was around.

Can't imagine they would bother, especially since there are newer versions out for online play. These old ones don't have the framework for it (they were old CDROM games back in the day) and the company that owns the IP isn't likely to rewrite the engine on these re-releases. I guess they could take the questions and add them to the new version but it's not the same. Honestly I loved these games in college and bought the new one as soon as it came out. The issue I have with the new ones is that they are "episodic" with the same questions every time and you have to buy new episodes after you finish them all. It's just not as much fun as the originals where it chooses from a big list of questions and mixes them up. Way less repetition and memorization involved. Plus they got rid of some of the game mechanics in the new ones so these re-releases are great if you wanted to play them again. I lost the CDs a long time ago and I'm probably gonna order the bundle of these the next time I have people hanging out and want to play trivia. Use your TV as a monitor, grab a wireless keyboard for the coffee table, and you have your own trivia game show. I might even rig up some buzzer buttons and map them to the proper keys so it's more "official" :)

Agree

Add online features and german language and I buy 4 licences in seconds.

Oh, gee, sure, I guess the people who now own the rights to the game will just rewrite the engine of a nearly 20-year-old game from scratch and integrate Steamworks multiplayer into it. Should be a piece of cake shouldn't it? While they're at it, they should add achievements, Steam Trading Cards and the Steam Workshop to it, because that isn't out of the question at all.
C'mon guys, do you really think they're going to do that? Local multiplayer is where YDKJ shines anyways, and there's nothing that can compare sitting alongside the 2 people who you're playing with, conversing on the action, laughing together, and seeing their faces when you Screw them. Does nobody on Steam have friends in real life anymore?

YDKJ Louder! Faster! Funnier! should have Steam Trading Cards one for each Episode from the NetShow Version.

Examples:
- Jack Head w. Shamrock [Green/St. Patrick's Day Episode]
- Jack Head w. Christmas Present [Toys/Christmas Episode]
- Jack Head w. Plush Cat [Pet Episode]
- Jack Head w. Heart [Love/Valentine's Day Episode]
- Jack Head w. Cake [Birthday Episode]
