Custom Die Rolls
I know that you can perform custom die rolls in the chat window like so...

/die 4d6-3
/die 5d10+3d6

Is there a way to pick a high die from rolls? Like character stat rolls, where you might roll 4d6 and pick the highest three? I looked online and couldn't find the answer to that.

I would like to know if there is a way to do it in the chat window as well.

The only way I know how to do it is not in the campaign. When you launch Fantasy Grounds the first screen pops up where you choose to create or load a campaign, there is a button Manage Characters. If you select that, the window that is over where the chat window normally is has three tabs up top. If you select roll, down at the bottom of that window you will see where to set up the roll. To roll, just right click on the 6-sided die and select 4, then roll them in the window.

We have some new dice rolling routines in development that we haven't rolled out yet. That is a pretty big module since it incorporates a bunch of other changes... so we are most likely going to hold off finishing it until after we move the core engine over to Unity.

In the meantime, you might be interested in this user crated extension

On a side note. With the Unity engine, will we be able to create our own 3D dice for rolling? I have played with the Unity engine a little.

I hit the link to your forms. On that thread, the link to that guy's site is dead. The link to GetHub is good. I pulled the files from GetHub and zipped them up changing the extension from zip to ext. I then put the file in my extensions directory and now it is working. This will work great.

We will play around with different dice. The first step will be to allow for custom dice skins but potentially for new dice models as well. I'm not sure if we will really need new models or not. The skins are something we have already played around with.

We posted some early screenshots of some prototyping we were doing a while back for it.

That's cool. Not terribly pressing at the moment, but it would be a great feature.

Out of curiosity, would this new module also include collision control? The FG dice rolling kinda looks terrible when the dice end up merged together.

Yeah, the skins are more what I meant. The only die I have that is not there is the 30 sided die. I have not seen this die used in any games so far. I guess it is more a novelty.

We are back and forth on this. When we have full collisions enabled, they end up ♥♥♥♥♥♥ against each other or stacked on top of each other. When you roll a handful of dice, it can be problematic. In play-tests, we actually kind of like excluding collisions against all other objects on the dice layer since it resulted in a slightly better experience. It might be a preference thing we can implement and just set the default to what we think most people will like.

I can see that. Although I would point you to the iPhone/iPad app called Dicenomicon. They seem to have solved the stacking/cocking problem, and (on an iPhone at least) they don't have nearly the real estate FG does when rolling. Might be worth seeing how they did it.

I actually use 30 sided dice in my games. Since FG2 doesn't have a 30-sider, I use a d6 and a d10. A 1 or 2 = 01 to 10; 3 or 4 = 11 to 20; 5 or 6 = 21 to 30. The d10 resolves the final range.

Primarily it is used for this most excellent house rule taken from Jeff's Game Blog:

http://jrients.blogspot.com/2008/11/draft-cinder-house-rules-part-1.html

The Big Purple D30 Rule
Once per session each player may opt to roll the Labyrinth Lord’s big purple d30 in lieu of whatever die or dice the situation normally calls for. The choice to roll the big purple D30 must be made before any roll. The d30 cannot be roll for generating character statistics or hit points.

I would really like to see the addition of other dice ranges like the d30, d24, d5, d7, etc. As Dungeon Crawl Classics by Goodman Games incorporates these, it would make running that system on FG2 much easier.
Smiteworks  [udvikler] 22. maj 2015 kl. 21:34
Note, that you can use any random # range for random tables, and then "roll" that.

all dice can be run from the command line.
also you can use the MoreCore extension http://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?23281-More-Core-extension-for-CoreRPG to have it actually throw a 3d dice (it will throw a fate dice in the animation but return the correct thrown dice result) it includes d3, d5, d7, d14, d16, d24, d30 options.
