Activating your Existing License on Steam

For existing users:
Good news!!!

Existing FG users can now "Activate a Product on Steam..." and enter their existing Full, Ultimate or Ultimate Upgrade Key to have Steam recognize that they own the product. This will allow you to buy DLC on steam, upload videos, reviews, screenshots, etc and will show up in the play list whenever you play it. Once the Ultimate licenses become available for purchase on Steam, we will link those with activation keys again so people can unlock another product that says Fantasy Grounds - Ultimate. For now, it won't hurt to unlock the basic Fantasy Grounds version and later unlock the Ultimate.

To activate, click Add a Game in the lower-left corner of your Steam client and select Activate a Product on Steam..

If you later buy any DLC through Steam, look in your FG Settings for an option to check Steam DLC on update. If you launch from outside Steam and don't buy DLC through here, you may want to disable that to speed up your updates.

When I try to activate a product using my Full Licence key I get an Invalid CD Key error.

Niner, send me the key you are trying to activate to [e-mail] and I will check to make sure it was in the list of keys we sent to Valve for activation. If you bought it recently (after we sent the list) then it won't work at this time. We are waiting from a response from our contact at Valve to see how frequently we can send additional activation keys.

Piotyr, we are not planning to implement the Lite licenses on Steam. In fact, we are leaning towards discontinuing them entirely and having only Demo/Free, Full (our standard license) and the Ultimate license. They should continue to function and can connect to an Ultimate or Full GM running a Steam or a non-Steam version, but we will stop selling them at some point.

so the Lite version is not going to exist on steam? i think the 23$ i spent in the 2010 should allow me more than a Demo/Free version of the software...

There is no DLC for the Lite version and if you launch the Demo/Free version and enter your existing Lite license key, it will function as a Lite license instead of as a Demo. The only difference is that it will show up in the activation and games list as a Demo instead. There would have to be an equivalent product on Steam for that to work otherwise.

When you launch your lite FG as normal you should see an "Upgrade to full" button at the bottom of the first screen. It will launch a web page to the FG store with a "Lite to Full License Upgrade" put in your shopping basket for $20.

I would check with Smiteworks to see if the upgrade license key will be recognised in Steam.

What about existing dlc purchased from your site, such a COC and SW rule sets? How do we register those?

gurg13, these will be automatically recognized. You should enter your FG forum username and password into your Settings when you launch from Steam if not already done and then update with the Check for Steam DLC option checked. This will download and install anything purchased from Steam or from our Store - assuming you chose to link it with your account at purchase.

If the product ID doesn't show up in your product listings, then shoot an email to [e-mail] with your order id and your forum name and we can link them after the fact.
