Unable to join my friends game.

So we are trying to join together on Fantasy grounds. But when I put in my Username and his host id it keeps telling me. "Could not connect to the host. Check your network settings verify the host address." Now I know the host adress is correct so what do I need to do to fix the network problem?

Ask the GM to run teh Connection Test. The GMs computer must be able to pass the connection test. If that is Successful and you cannot connect - are you running malwarebytes? You may need to add a Web Filter exclusion for it.

I don't use malwarebytes but run McAfee if that makes a difference.

Make sure that your Internet connection is marked as Private if you are using Windows. You can also try using the external IP address if your GM gives that to you -- or triple check the alias spelling.

My network is already marked as private. One thing fantasy grounds mentions is configuring my firewall or router to accept and forward connections on port 1802. Anyone know how to do that?

@Amishman, you only need to do a port forward if you are hosting the game as the GM. Players don't need to mess with the router at all.

If you can't connect with either alias or external IP, then it is most likely some software running on your local computer that is blocking access to the program. Try removing firewall rules and re-running it. Windows should automatically prompt you to allow access. If not, manually add an exception for C:\Program Files (x86)\Fantasy Grounds\FantasyGrounds.exe.
