Adding proficiency bonus to armor (5e), is it possible?
Howdy!

I have a Warforged Envoy character right now in my campaign. From the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron, the character can change the mode of its Integrated Protection. Some of which (if not all, I am a small doubt) gain a proficiency bonus to his AC. I tried creating an item entry especially for the player to be able to switch it and to avoid forgetting the proficiency bonus as we level up, but I cannot find how to add it automatically. Right now I only know how to add it manually as a bonus.

Can it be done or is the manual way the only way for this?

If you have looked at adding effects to the character in the combat tracker, you want to add this to the PC's abilities tab as a spell in a new power area you can call Racial Abilities
Warforged AC bonus; AC: [PRF];

This effect will add the proficiency bonus to their AC, you will need to delete and reapply every time the proficiency bonus changes

Comes down almost as the same as to put in manually then. It's good to know.

I tried to copy/pate what you wrote, but it doesn't seem to compute. I'll try to do my research with what you told me!

Thank you very much for the time you took to answer my question. I appreciate it!

Your were on the right track in creating the armour, only you copy existing armour from the players handbook that has the same AC effect, set it to 0 weight, and simply rename it.

I did something similar. It's just that the +proficiency is nowhere to be found. Or at least I haven't find any item with that propriety in the list. I ended putting the bonus manually in the Misc section of the Character's AC section. It stays there even when the armor is switched.
Right click on the armour in the main menu of the character
