Make sure you don't have an antivirus that could block the file. Sometimes it could be detected as a false positive.

Hello guys, I also experienced a similar error. I solved it this way:

1. Open explorer
   
2. Navigate to the C:\Users\{{YOUR_PC_NAME}}\AppData\LocalLow\XD\Launcher\steam directory. The value of {{YOUR_PC_NAME}} may vary depending on your PC name.
   
3. Open the XDLauncherPreferences.json file using notepad.
   
4. Focus only on the gameInstallationPath section. Make sure the value is the same as the directory you installed the game in. Mine is:
   

   {"gameInstallationPath":"H:\\SteamLibrary\\steamapps\\common\\Sword of Convallaria\\SwordOfConvallaria",......}

5. Save the file.
   
6. Open the game via Steam. Enjoy.
