Depends on your strategy preference and battle style. When it comes to TRPG, the more characters you own the more strategies you can plan/plot. So every one of the characters (including the low ranked ones) are worth something somewhere. It all boils down to your strategy skills and preference in the end.

All of the rarest units are pretty viable even the ones people say are objectively bad. Just because something isnt meta doesnt mean it doesnt have a use. Tier list brainrot is a thing that people fixate way too much on. Simona is a fairly solid CC/tank hybrid support that fits well with ice spam or union parties. Is she as universally good as the meta units? Not really but im rolling for her because i like the union faction over the others and she seems cool and useful.

I've been using 2x epic characters as my main damage dealers during story mode. My 3x Legendary take a more supportive role as tank/healer. So that's 5 characters I use daily out of 25. The rest are just taking up space right now. *shrugs*

People don't like characters that are primarily defensive. Simona is one of those, a shield and ice tank. They'd rather pull for Auguste and HULK SMASH!!!! or Saffiyah and summon ninjas. Or Tristan and go Super Saiyan on you.

I wouldnt say primarily defensive. She has a very mixed kit and is more of a DPS/support debuffer that is really tanky. Saying her kit is defensive is basically trying to compare her to Maitha or Teadon and thats just not accurate.

Just got Simona today after 40x pulls (THANK YOU RNGESUS!). Used her briefly in pve, so here's some thoughts on her at level 31, rank 5: Simona could replace your archer and/or tank because her ice attacks have longer reach; her movement per turn is mid-range (better than a tank but less than an assassin); and her defense is relatively high as a hybrid spellblade.

A negative, though, is her Union association (same as Gloria). There's only a 3rd legendary (forgot his name) among the Union character roster, so she feeds off Gloria and vice versa if you rely on the banner.

Using her to do the new event and level 50 Crossing Worlds stages, I've found that, in spite of her defensive buff capabilities, she's still a powerhouse attacker even though I only have an epic weapon on her. She can knockback three enemies at once. She has an instant charge attack that does not need a target so you can just use it for mobility. She has a single target attack that applies Move🔻III, which prevents movement entirely for most. She starts battles with a thick physical shield, and if you have her Iceshards reaction when it runs out, all enemies within 2 tiles take damage and also get the Move🔻III debuff. All the ranged and aoe attacks make her a valued attacker. And she's even faster than Maitha, what the ♥♥♥♥?
