Report a translation problem
Normally there's a range for aura buff like 5 blocks radius around the character. The word "All" means it's field wide buff like the faction buff, but this one's the class type buff and only effect those of the same class. For stack-able buffs, they will list something extra like that separately.
Even then, it can be unclear in the translation. For example there's this skill in Spiral that we can train on any character. The 『爆発力特訓』(unsure its name in English), you get a sort of passive skill that works like a faction buff but with a range limit and only at the start of the battle.
It translated to something like this:
"At the start of the Battle. All allies within 3 mass get +10% Def, +2 Mov for 2 turns. Effects are Stack-able."
And there it left us wondering what are stack-able? the Turns or the actual buff effects themselves? Say, If having 3 characters with the skill, are we getting 6 turns of those? Or are we getting a +30% Def and +6 Mov? lol... Not even sure why it's stack-able at the 1st place, it's already a pretty ridiculous "cheat skill"...
Can't give you a 100% answer on that. But for TRPG, especially Chinese online TRPGs, they have a trend to only count the highest buff of the same type at the moment, so they aren't stackable unless said so in the description.
eg,
If you have 2 buffs, 1 +20% def, the other one + 25% def applied on the same character. Only the 25% will take effect.
But the only 100% sure way to find out is to do the math directly in the battle.
Though i wanted to say TRPG don't usually have stack-able states... SoC is kinda on the breaking point when it comes to balancing... especially in Spiral... eg. Having +3 range stacked with Church +1 range and gears +1 range simply make the game crazily easy and every single enemy dies before getting close to your units...
This is what translated from the Japanese version Text:
The "Talent" is a conditional one.
"When ALL the allies with a "Role" [Defender] on the field are in "Injured" state, +12% ATK"
This +12% ATK applies to all the Defender in the field that is able to receive the effect of the talent. So I doubt it will effect the NPC's defender there. And it uses + there so it should be additive.
edit: Hmmm... it seems a bit different on Destroyer...
"When ALL allies with a "Role" [Destroyer] in the field are under attack, and self HP% is lower than the enemy's HP%, +12% Def"
This sound weird... so i guess it should mean.
"When ANY allies with a Role"
So it should effects NPCs as well.
Checked Breaker and it seems like it...
"When ANY allies with a "Role" [Breaker] in the field are being attacked from the front, -12% damage taken"
Might as well list the other 2:
Watcher:
"When ANY allies with a "Role" [Watcher] is attacking, if their HP% is higher than the target enemy's, +12% ATK"
Assaulter:
"When ANY allies with a "Role" [Assaulter] is being retaliated, -20% damage taken"
And that put the Defender's one into:
"When ANY allies with a "Role" [Defender] is under the [Injured] state, +12% ATK"
which means it effect individual Defender that's injured and the buff is given to that individual defender alone, not all of them on the field.
So... it's a translation mistake. Or it's been a typo since the original Chinese version...
It should be ANY, not ALL. The "ALL" part tries to tell us that it effects ALL allies (including NPCs). But the effect is triggered by ANY one of them that meets the condition individually.
I was confused by that as well, until I took one of units into battle in the Spiral of Destinies that had the Battle Flag of Iria and two other Irian units alongside her. According to the description, for every Irian unit in battle, they receive a bonus 10% attack and 20% defense. I checked their buffs panel, and under “Leader’s Aura”, which is what those passives are listed as, it just said 10% attack and 20% defense bonuses. There also wasn’t a number in the corner of the buff’s icon to indicate multiple stacks of the Leader’s Aura buff either, like how the Infection debuff functions.
Yeah, the English translation is not the best. A lot of the random dialogue bubbles that pop up on your characters when you’re wandering around your home in Elysium have some pretty poor grammar.
