The game gives you SSR and SR units as you complete the missions. So your stronger units at start will always be those unless you whale. Else with the fragment farming it will take months before you can max out one you get from gacha. And though i said you will sooner or later own everyone, there WILL be some you won't be using later, so you don't have to farm everyone's fragment due to preferences in your strategy setup. But to know that preference, you will need to try out the game for sometime before you settle down in your favorite fighting style... eg. Some players prefer heavy duty shielded team, slow kill but steady. Some players prefer fast assassination and finish the stage asap. Some players prefer long ranged team, where they bombard the enemies with magic/physic ranged attacks from a far distance doing the hit and run tactics. Or you can go the extreme with a full healer team and try to best the stages with 100% hp.... And then there's that balanced team selection where every character have their own role to play. So it all depends on your play style to decide who to pull later.
As for whether or not the later units will be better? Well, the answer is yes, powercreep is something we can't avoid in a gacha game.
I see, thanks for the reply. Sorry I kinda forgot to say wich units I already have.
Currently I have Inanna, Gloria, Maitha, Feycal. Sadly I dont have units like Flame Sorceress or Lash.
Is there any recommendation you could give me on what Epic or Rare units I could fill in until I can swap them out?
I dont know if I should safe my pulls now since I have heard there are going to be really good units coming soon? Thanks a bunch man.
You will get tons of (about 2 actually) SR doing the x10 pull, so the advice is do that whenever you have enough resources. You will sooner or later started to fill up your N~SR with 5 stars units if you do that. And they are pretty strong and close enough to a 1~2 stars Legendary. Aim for the SRs, they often have concentrated skills unlike the Legendary which goes for unique abilities. Which means the SR are probably easier to use in compare with the L.
I run a full team of Vlder Tribes and nothing else, a self-implied restriction to make the game more interesting. So as you can see, i don't have a lot of L at my dispose, but it's still possible to beat high level stages (i am able to beat stages 15+ above my current level). So i can safely tell you that SR and R can still be useful in the battles.
But for most users, they should be enough to go by most contents using only the free L characters. So if you want to wait for certain banner, you can save up for it. And once you have more than enough tokens, you can use the extra to farm for SRs... Do not farm SR fragments in the daily event though it's pretty wasteful considering you will sooner or later maxed them using the gacha...
As for good epics and rares, I don't pull very much, I've done it exactly 200 times, and that only means 51 unique characters. Here are the ones I decided to keep leveling:
Crimson Falcon: Great mobility and backstab crit specialist that's almost as good as Col.
Angel: The most recommended healer that everyone gets access to.
Divine Grace: An archer that has knockback and long range skills, the latter which does more damage the further away he is.
Papal Guard: Even though he's only rare, he's got some crazy tanking skills that can be preferable to Maitha's.
Lash: A strange skillset resembling a red mage with healing, aoe dot, and a line attack with a long distance that hits twice.
Butterfly: I kind of don't like using her, but she does have access to a skill at rank 7 that dispels all buffs on a target, which is huge, and Gloria doesn't even get to use the same skill until rank 11.
Stinger: My third string assassin, I don't use him much, but for battles where I want a lot of mobility or verticality, he's useful.
Flame Sorceress: I don't use her much, she's kind of redundant when I have Beryl, but she gets called whenever there's a significant advantage for mages.
Night Raven: She's a pretty versatile mage with a focus on debuffing.
Nightingale: Can be built for healing, attack breaks, or inflicting sleep.
Abyss: Haven't used her much, but she can inflict a no reaction skill debuff, which would be useful against covering defenders.
Suppression: Have not used him much, but his trait gives him extra magic resistance and I'm thinking that could be useful for tanking against mages.
the only thing you are missing is really a 3rd SSR to farm shards for, but this will not happen until a couple of levels later.
