Its just so...convoluted and boring.

That's the "free player" part of the game. So there's limit on how much love the game company can give on something that doesn't payback. It's not a charity game and gacha is the main game no matter what other free players tried to make you think otherwise.

How much of it have you even played?

The story is not bad, and get some items and Hope Luxites when Lv up...... So, I have no reason to play the game without Spiral of Destiny.

It's so boring, I rather pay to skip.

For me Spiral is the mode I spend the most time in. The story is really good, and I enjoy the battle mechanics so its fun for me.

But it's also optional, so if you don't like it then don't play it I guess

There's a limit to that. You will exhaust all the story around Lv150 lore, and that's not enough to complete the tree nor the achievement rewards, so you will need to do tons of repeat over and over and over again to get them cleared. Good thing is, we can use our gacha rosters in this mode for speed run, but even then it's still boring reruns.

I dislike it simply due to the walls of texts after 90% of week skip. I mean, the text is interesting sometimes, but c'mon, not another wall of text so soon after the previous one.

I found it to be serviceable but oddly (cause I never would have expected this going in) but It's pretty much my least favorite Mode outside of learning the history and characters aspects. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:

Yeah, you get a new beacon every 1 year in the chinese version, as you can see in the newest update, it's basically made with a mindset that you already have a strong Elysium Roster to tackle it (Since you can ignore the SoD roster, perma-death isn't a huge problem?). The beacon unlock requirement is to have run Elaman route at least once if i am not wrong. It's more like a challenge mode than story mode though. And It will be sometime before it reaches the global unless they speed things up again.

Also, if you like TRPG based rougue-like dungeon crawler, DALK from the pc98 era is one of the best patience tester, where you challenge 1000 random generated floors... (It's basically the TRPG version of Tower of Druaga)
For SoC, i doubt you can get that much fun from their random generated dungeon. Especially since there's an "end" and limited length you can play in that route, "Item World" in "Disgaea" might proved to be more fun and lasting. But at least it should eases the boredom a bit with random dungeons when we need to speed-run SoD for the unlock-ables and Lore levels.
