The banners themselves are kind of crap, too. The debut banner has a single hero as the 'main' draw, but it's only 50% to pull them, and 50% to get any other random one when you get an SSR. To guarantee the one you want, you need to draw on that banner for 180 pulls.
The banners with two characters has a higher chance to get ONE of the TWO, but I don't think there is any sort of guarantee which. That is, you could draw the same one four times and never get the second. There is also a 25% chance to get an off-banner. So you really only have like a 37.5% to get the one you want. If you have neither, then it is at least a better chance to get one or the other though. Again, 180 pulls to guarantee one of the two.
I think there is also a sort of universal guaranteed summon every 100 pulls, but it resets each time you draw any SSR at all. And it isn't tied to a specific banner. That is, if you pulled 90 times and the used a banner for 10 pulls, it would guarantee an SSR, but it would only be 10/180 for that specific banner, so you could still get anything.
As for reruns, no clue as I just started playing here at release on global. IIRC someone on forums said they debut (50% to get the character) might only come by once each character, then it will be put together later with the double banners (2 characters at only 37.5% each), so its easiest to get them at the debut.
All in all, it's a gacha game. You can play the story mode thing without worry, but yes the gacha part is still gacha, wanting you to feel the desire and need to pull. You won't NEED to of course, it just depends on your own willpower/ability not to succumb to such gambling things.
Currently rate up banners have 2 heroes who are still unmatched in their role(Beryl + Gloria) and one who is extremely strong but not as general purpose due to being a one trick pony assassin(Col) and one who is a pretty strong 'biggest faction' leader aura wielder(Dantallion) who is pretty strong but not as general purpose.
That's as far as 'one year ahead' of asia servers can tell us.
If that was not enough - if you are collectionist and don't care about 'getting stronger' - you can 'overfarm' SSRs you have already max star'd(dupes) via f2p daily mission.
This alone allows you to get ANY SSR of your choice(no restrictions at all) within 70 days from that mission alone. That's not counting the fact that you will inevitably get currency from rolling gacha too and getting lower rarity dupes(albeit those offer much less currency but they add up)
Within first 2 weeks f2p gets a bit under 50 free pulls + ~150 pulls worth of prem currency and much more available as you play via first time rewards. By time you completely exhaust most one time sources - you basically got ~300 pulls done.
Every 100 pulls is guaranteed SSR if you have bad luck. And that's absolute worst case scenario which is VERY unlikely to happen 3 times in a row.
Main banners you roll for are either 'Single featured unit'(50% chance to get that SSR when getting SSR) or 'Double featured unit'(37.5% for each, so 75% to get at least one of the 2)
