Aside from the 1 free 10 pull the game gives you as part of the tutorial, I have played through the available campaign section multiple times without ever looking at it.
I am not here to argue ethics. Either play the game, or do not, that is your choice. But do not try to guilt trip and shame people out of something simply because you do not approve of it.
What matters to me, is whether I find the game interesting, engaging and/or enjoyable. The monetization, marketing or social aspects are completely irrelevant to what I choose to play.
I find this game to be quite enjoyable and the story is very interesting, with engaging combat and complex character building. If it continues to be so after full release, I have no compunction about spending money on it.
For some this will be a deal breaker, and for some it is acceptable as long as it isn't that bad, and for others they actually like Gacha systems. Every person needs to make their own choice. While I agree it is a practice that feeds on those vulnerable for these things, for somebody like me that don't really spend cash on gacha games but play them from time to time, I don't mind that much. Ofc it depends on what the model is.
Because the way I see it, gacha games are not gonna dissapear because me, a person that don't use the system, don't play it or not, it is gonna depend on the whales like always, if they go, that is when the gacha system will go as well. But I don't see that happening.
So tbh, ngl I feel conflicted, wish it was without it personally as well.
But as Melodia writes, I hard doubt they can or are willing to change it before release.
I have also found that they can be incredibly fun, but are most fun once you have already built to somewhat keep up with event content. The fun comes from endlessly releasing content that continues to challenge you. It's unfortunately a difficult formula to have without some source of continuous income stream. World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14 does it with a subscription. Gacha games do it with gacha. As another note, I've only spent about $15 on a gacha game and that was for ad removal. I refuse to spend money on the gacha system and usually any other systems like microtransactions, battle passes of any kind, in game shop items, ect.
I do think we need to find a better way to fund these types of games, if we want that kind of experience to remain available. Unfortunately until we find a better way to fund these experiences AND we stop supporting the gacha mechanic, then we'll continue to have this problem with so many gacha games everywhere. This game is so far one of the most F2P friendly titles I've seen. If the balance is done perfectly, it's almost like a longterm roguelike.
I think the big one for me will be whether you have to use the gacha extensively to get past a certain point. Say there is a fight you simply cannot get past unless you have a Super Elite Mega Character or whatever. If you can get past most if not all with just good planning and actually playing the game well, then I am cool with it having gacha, but if not, then I will probably drop it there and then.
I think the game was built around this...
