I would say do not knock it before you try it, but I know it would fall on deaf ears.
While I understand the concept of pay-to-win, it seems that nowadays it has transformed into pay to skip content or skip the grind, which ultimately ruins the gaming experience. I agree that the game is okay, and I appreciate your insights. As a gamer, I enjoy these types of games for their entertainment value. However, I firmly believe that microtransactions are detrimental as they allow players to bypass content and disrupt the game's balance., I am concerned about the growing trend of pay-to-skip content, which undermines the essence of gaming. It's clear that the existence of pay-to-skip options caters to those who dislike grinding, but its overall impact on the gaming community is worrisome.
I don't mind if you have a crusade against certain business practices, but you don't speak for all tactics players. Cheers.
I've actually done a ton of research on the game, so I know way more than most do about it. There is a 100 pity timer that guarantees a legendary. Actually people who play the game tell me they basically never hit the 180 pity. The 180 pity guarantees the featured character, there's not 50/50 at the 180 pity. The 100 pity and the 180 pity are separate timers also.
2% rate is actually quite good, that means 2 legends after 100 pulls (% means out of 100). So If you know it's 2% then why would you think you have to pull 180 times to get a legend? Top tier legends are not required to play and enjoy the story. I know a player on TW server that clears the story without legends as a fun challenge to themselves, and they haven't had any issues. Free players can earn 1-2 legends each month easily just with free currency obtained through gameplay.
The signature weapon banner is getting pushback on the TW server, so much so that it got delayed for release on the CN server. The devs have already added a way to farm the weapons which doesn't involve spending pulls at all due to the pushback. They might be adjusting it further, as evidenced by the fact that they have yet to release it on CN.
The PVP has matchmaking, so you should be matched with a similarly powered player. As a free player you won't top the leaderboards, that's true. But there's still a non-gacha branching story mode (Spiral of Destiny) which is really fun and if you just want to play a tactics RPG you can focus on this mode and enjoy the non-gacha mode. Free players shouldn't expect to top leaderboards in a gacha game, so I still think the game is extremely F2P friendly. I know someone on the TW server who is F2P and they rank top 95% on the TW server PVP anyways, so you can still be competitive if you understand the mechanics and spend you resources wisely.
It's okay if the game is not for you, or if being negative about it makes you feel better. But I do think you're being overly negative. If the argument is that you want a tactics game without gacha, then just play the story modes without engaging with the gacha, and enjoy the beautiful art and music, cool animations, interesting story, etc. There is a fun tactics game in here for people who want to find and enjoy it.
Top tier legends are not required to enjoy the tactics RPG in Sword of Convallaria, it seems odd to me to argue that it's not F2P friendly when this thread is about enjoying a tactics game... and yet all your arguments are about the gacha mechanics themselves and not any actual gating of the story (which there is none, except keys/stamina which is easily obtained for free over time).
I hope you have fun if you do end up trying the game though. Cheers :)
I agree with almost everything said except for the 2% paragraph. It's a probability, so it's not guaranteed that you will get it in 100 pulls, the same way that there is a chance you could get it on the first 10 pulls.
