Legendary Skills : Can't Learn
I just had the most ridiculous experience which has ruined my mood. I finished a battle and about to receive a legendary skill for one of my characters. But then the game slaps me in the face with the most ridiculous options.

My Kathrine who is a healer gets to choose First Aid : Extra, which is worse than the healing spell she starts with. Basically, the skill is useless for her... Really, stupid...

Maitha get's to choose her Ultimate Knockback Skill which named after her... But... Her skills are full?? What the f***ing stupid mechanic is that?! You don;t get any option to replace or remove other skills to obtain it? OMFG!!

My Wolf get's a dumb support leap option, which I"m FORCED to take. I can't believe I'm about to rage quit this game. This totally ruined my experience with the game.

Been there, done that. It is part of the roguelike mechanics of multiple playthroughs. Each time you start a new campaign from the beacon all characters, stats, levels, gear, etc., etc., gets washed clean.

I do agree with the frustration, though. So many times I wished for something useful only to get aura or supports skills or characters that already have a full kit.
It needs a re-roll, or a skill category selection. Just try and get a reaction or basic attack option.

Getting random skills is totally fine for unique experiences. But being screwed over by the RNG and being screwed over by these odd limitations makes it even worse. You play 12 hours into something, just to be screwed over when you finally get legendary skills.

I had 5 characters on the battle field and they gave me this. I literally closed the game. Not worth the effort or frustration when bad mechanics exist to screw you over.

This basically forces you to never use main characters for any missions with skill scrolls, otherwise you just screw over your main characters. All of my main characters are screwed over because of these dumb mechanics.

This is why it is in beta/early access.

All we can do is bring up our grievances and hope they will correct these issues by release.

Technically it's a demo. But your right, they definitely need to fix that.

That is especially dumb if you can't overwrite learned skills.

Not really dumb, so much as it is a limitation in line with the roguelike elements in many games nowadays.

Maybe with the full release we will have possible options, but the demo does not last long enough to really matter.

It's a dumb mechanic, period.

RNG for obtaining abilities isn't the issue here.
6 slots for "Learned" abilities isn't the issue ether.

Having no option to replace skills when you're asked to choose abilities is ridiculous.

Especially when other characters on the field could have learned an ability. A character who couldn't even learn an ability was chosen out of the five characters.

Showing me abilities I cant learn is just mockery. It's saying, "You can't learn this" Why even show me an ability that I can't even select? Might as well dangle a slice of pizza in my face and say, "You can't have this".

I do agree that the game should not select units with a full skill set. That is definitely a problem that should be addressed.

There should also be some sort of reroll mechanic too. I find aura and support skills to be far to niche to be useful.

The Legendary Attack and Defence Auras look decent. My Healer and Cleric both got the Legendary 30% Defence bonus to party members within a certain range.

My issue is the range limit, making auras too niche to be effective for me. I tend to split my forces and/or flank often. On the other hand, units speed causes teams to split up and enemy units can close in before the aura unit before can catch up.

Not to mention, and I could be wrong, but aura skills specifically state 'allies', implying the unit itself does not gain the bonus.
Storm Reaver Mar 13, 2024 @ 8:54pm
For defensive abilities, the range 3 seems reasonable. It's not like many games have defensive units far away from the units they're protecting. Look at Tactics Ogre, the knights can't be too far away from other units for them to get those bonuses.

Yeah, the "allies" part makes it sound like "allies only". Unless, it's a translation issue.
