I also see nothing wrong with that.
There are so many old great games which aren't playable nowadays or require some emulation.
And even if they are somehow playable, they'll look like...
I prefer Remasters or Remakes which don't affect the gameplay much or even at all.
Great examples are Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 0 and 1 HD, Oddworld New n tasty, Onimusha 1.
Bad examples (for me) were Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 2 Remake.
Cheers!
The only reason these remasters exist, sorry to say, is because Crystal/Embracer need the cash to make up for the garbage they will put out.
It's the new strategy you see even Hollywood doing now "The classics will make up lost profits for our latest "for modern audiences"" POS.
Look how many movies have been returning to theaters and selling tons of tickets, but do the studios make any more movies like the classics? No, just make some money and then throw out another piece of crap.
Probably that would be THAT reason for a good amount of players to buy it.
To be honest I'm sceptical if I will really enjoy TR4, TR5, and even TR6.
But to know that we can create, share, and play great custom levels (which base on the gameplay of TR1, TR2, and partly TR3) would compensate the scepsis regarding TR4 till TR6.
Cheers!
Yup I guess it depends on each game. I'd like to see both remasters and remakes
being made. For Tomb Raider I'm only interested in remasters of the classics, because the current developer hates classic Lara Croft and they have an identity crisis with the franchise.
IMO Resident Evil 2 Remake is the best example of how you do a remake aand revamp the franchise without pissing off the majority of classic fans. and it paid off very well. Plus it kinda set new standards of quality in the AAA space and trendsetter for remasters/remakes that's also why wee also see several dormant IPs getting revived. A lot of gamers buy these games and of course they profit from the nostalgia and the fact they're known and familiar brands.
Cheers!
