Rope swing problem in TR4
I can swing but Lara doesn't jump. She just falls down. I don't remember having problem like this in the original TR4.

While swinging and holding the action button, press the jump button and she will let go and jump. You need to have a bit of momentum.

Not working. I just saw Kawaii Games play TR4R and he is also having the same problem. Lara is not jumping.

I pressed the right trigger and she started swinging. It threw me off too.

Take a running jump from the ledge and press and hold Action to grab the rope. Continue to hold Action to hang onto the rope. You'll get the longest swing if you climb all the way down before starting to swing. So wait until Lara stops swinging and press Back/Down to slide down the rope to the bottom. Now press the Sprint/Dash button to swing forward, then Jump to let go of the rope and land on the ledge. You could also just release Action to let go.

no idea why they mapped some random keys
I just found out that I have to keep holding the jump, action, and sprint buttons. If I let go of the sprint button and continue holding the jump and action buttons, she will jump. The forward button is not necessary to hold.
Don't know if this is the right chat, but anyways. Old time player, not a newbie, I love tank controls. I have been playing TR4 for about 3 weeks now. Why so long? Because it's a challenge? Why? Not because the game is difficult, which it is and I love it, but because the controls are broken! Damn it! It's an added layer of stress. I have been now stuck in Giza level Menkaure's pyramid rope swinging for over an hour, which should have required 5 minutes. Why? Because holding Action randomly makes Lara let go. I have died 200 times already. She grabs the rope, then lets go. Same with random swimming events - being randomly stuck as if I am trying to swim through a wall. Same with falling and letting go of walls, crevices. She just does that absolutely randomly and with no indication, so it's a matter of luck and the reason I have 250 saves. Because once a complete such a seemingly easy sequence I save not to do the same again for 30 minutes. Not to drown, fall to my death. Switching to OG graphics sometimes helps. Running doesn't always work also. Wasn't this bad with 1-3. And I don't see any patches for this or updates. Anyone encounter this or is it just the lucky me?
In the original you could let go of 'dash' and then press 'jump'.
Now you have to keep 'action' and 'dash' depressed as you press 'jump'.
I hope they update this to be like it was originally as it's now a bit fiddly.

Your keyboard/controller is probably messed up, she doesn't randomly let go like that. Try looking for a tool where you can test your buttons, like Windows+R and "joy.cpl"

It's three buttons action: x - you holding rope, r2 - you swing, square - you jump.

Maybe Steam controller overlay needs to be disabled as the game supports controllers.
