4 and 5 are not speedrunable anymore
For some reason in 1-3 remastered they kept all glitches and bugs which in my opinion was a good thing because you actually had to try hard to actually make them work and it didn't impact normal gameplay aswell as speedrunners could still speedrun these games but with higher frame rate, better graphics or new controls which some are actually using.

But I tried doing skips in tr4 and tr5 and they don't work. There is a bug in originals which let you use flares to clip into walls and then use binoculars to trigger cutscene, skip level etc. Normal player would definitely never get it, though for speedrunning it was a cool trick.
Now you can't even clip into wall so I don't know if using binoculars still can activate triggers.
There was also a bug which let you manipulate loading levels by saving and loading in specific way and places in game, we had bug called qwop and I don't know if they still work because I didn't try it because save and loading requires flare clipping and qwop in tr5 is used at the end of game which I didn't get to yet. (if you tested it let me know)

I know it's weird complaining that why bugs were fixed but in my opinion it just killed speedrunning, now it's just playing the game normal way or as we call it "glitchless" which is just boring and lifeless.

i never understood why anyone would want to speed run these games, but I guess that's just me.

Doesn't that actually make speedrunning the trilogy better? Now there's new exploits and glitches to discover with slightly modified level geometry, possible slight physics changes and new moves in games that didn't have them. Now there is a time you can actively bring down over time with new discoveries. The original trilogy with the original bugs is still there and can be it's own category.

discovering new glitches is always nice but because of simplicity of the game, i don't think there would be any new glitches
as far as i know everything that was supposed to be found was found because people have checked everything they could in level editor, to see how triggers activate and how to manipulate them etc.
now we don't even have simplest clipping into wall which was one of the most important things in the run, second one was using binoculars to activate triggers and third one was manipulating save files which was found in tr4 first when messing with level editor, and some number values bla bla
but it let you do run that instead of being 4 hours, was 30 minutes

it's especially annoying that tr 1-3 remasters still have old bugs and are possible to speedrun with already developed strategies

and i understand if AOD was not possible to speedrun like it used to be in old one but AOD needed to be fixed as it was effecting normal gameplay, crashes, clipping, falling out of map etc. but in tr 4 and 5 these glitches were not affecting normal gameplay

Nah, the games are already sub 3-4 hours glitchless so I'm happy they took out the crappy bugs. Corner bugging still works as it should.
