I thought that it meant just directly adjacent to. As someone whose mother tongue is not English, I got quite confused when I had a red camp in the bottom right corner and then at the very end dropped another red at the top right corner and it got bonus soldiers. Did not think aligned was meant to be across the entire map.
Great game and with just a few more active choices could be great! I love that there's a "gamble a random level 1 card", but I wish it would be that game takes a random (you can game this) and give you 2-3 choices, instead of just any random stuff. I had a run where I didn't want more resources and clicked it and it was just a dead card to me and resources would have been better. I'd like if you could instead forgo taking resources to upgrade and get a meaningful choice swap instead of the resource boost.
Those two (aligned meaning entire row/column) and that are my only two "gripes" with the game so far. :)
