That's great, thanks for the info. I recently ranted to Aerosoft about their stupid launcher and how it's the only reason I never bought any of their games yet. Seems like I finally get to try one.

I've purchased a few digital titles from Aerosoft and haven't had to use their launcher for any of them. I just link the .exe within each game to Steam and launch it from there.

But don't they have to be activated through the Launcher? Their support pages seem to say so. If they're as easily circumvented as just running the other executable, the launcher software is poorer than I expected (although, for customers, in a good way).

No, from what I remember, for each purchase Aerosoft emails you an activation key that's a one-time use thing to authenticate your purchase on initial startup. After that you can launch the game directly from a desktop shortcut, Steam shortcut, or whatever.

I always got the impression that the Aerosoft launcher was just a bonus utility for hardcore simmers to keep their AS library together (along with the bonus hot links to manuals, forums, etc.). So it's just like Steam but only for hardcore simulation gamers and games not sold on Steam anyway.

I don't think the launcher is malicious or draconian at all.

I absolutely detest aerosofts smug and condescending attitude on their forums-I avoid there wares as much as I can for that reason- I would hate to have a problem and need to ask for their help- it's just not dignified.
