OMSI 2

OMSI2 "out of memory"-game breaking bug (on high end hardware) + NT Core 4GB Patch = issues solved!
Good evening,

I have started this topic because my OMSI2 finally works after the .exe has been patched by the 4-GB patch (NT core).
Loading times are extremely short now, but most important, the "out of memory" game-breaking-bug since release is gone since this (unofficial) patch. There is also no need to load the whole map anymore because since the patch the loading times are nearly gone ... just a very short drop in FPS when titles get loaded...
I have had an unplayable OMSI2 since release ....... also, because I didn't know "this special patch"
In about 8 h of playing (weekend) I have had just 2 "errors" which could easily "clicked" away and didn't have issues concerning gameplay in general.

errors I've had this weekend:
-1st. "Bereichsfehler/Zugriffsfehler CV.Calculate"
-2nd. "Zugriffsverletzung bei Adresse ********** in Modul 'Omsi.exe'. Lesen von Adresse ********"
(both are very well known bugs), but not game breaking (imo)

Loading the whole map in general isn't a must anymore with this 4GB-patch (my experience) because the loading "freezes" are very little and nearly non existence since this unofficial "4GB patch"... just a short drop in fps for <1 sec. no more 3 sec freezes, awesome. OMSI2 works now.

For me and my system this patch is an absolutely must and I don't know why there isn't an official statement by the devs. concerning this issues in association with high end hardware.... the "german players" may know this since release but don't share important informations like this here on the official steam forum, because they are german and germany (BRD) is well known for it's totally broken society (due to capitalism and mostly everyone is against each other anyway....)

Well... could blame the beta testers for being non existence.... but who cares a bunch of german youtube-"kiddy"let's players, german people with absolutely no "key" knowledge, and german kids below the age of <12, and/or typical "GER"-fanboys.

the developer has totally failed in the quality assurence department because of wrong choices made in the past (beta testers/ too early release) ....

they, the devs. really should make use of the STEAM-beta-test feature in the future !!!
We, the people who play this, can give feedback then...and we can be objective and we don't want to push a laughable ger youtube-channel..... we want a game/sim that runs well on a modern pc !!

Cheers!

update 4GB patch (high end system): Don't load the whole map at start, it will resault in very poor framerates around spandau, (<10 FPS with fps-warning by the game) even if the hardware is 16GB ram / 4 GB vram.... otherwise the 4GB patch works great. Not perfect, but o.k., game breaking bugs are totally gone with it (out of memory). FPS around spandau are >20 if the map is not fully loaded, so the better choice is to not fully load the whole map at start, imo.
After everything (Kacheln/textures) is loaded in the ram/vram, the freezes are nearly gone as well.... game will still load titles during the game but in an exaptable state of gameplay...game keeps being playable with a few short freezes but no (major game breaking) errors ....after a "line" / particular line is fully done/ driven, the game/sim works as it should be, because everything is loaded in the ram already and the freezes are mostly gone.... that's my experience with this sim
Cheers!

Another tip for better FPS is to put tile count on 1 in the options. This can double FPS if you had it on 3 or 4 before. The only disadvantage is traffic jams won't really happen as enough of the map won't be loaded for long enough to allow cars to build up.

I held off purchasing OMSI 2 until a week ago due to the huge amount of negativity around performace related issues.

I am however quite happy with the performance and actually amazed at how stable it is. I consitantly have 50 fps plus with a drop to around 30 fps at spandau. This is way better than OMSI 1 ever was.

My computer is now three years old being built in 2011 showing that you dont need a monster to run this game at a decent level.

I hope they continue to develop and support this niche title.
