OMSI 2

Performance Issues
I am wondering if anyone else has been experiencing any performance issues at all lately?

I tried to load up 3 maps today and I was averaging around 10 FPS on every single one. Normally, I can run OMSI at around 45-60FPS (if I recall) with my PC and it works fine apart from the normal lag spikes every so often when loading new tiles. I don't play OMSI that often anymore but I cannot play with this low FPS.

When I load into the map my FPS is fine but then when I spawn a bus the FPS drops significantly.

(The maps I tried were Bad Hugelsdorf, X10 Berlin and Yorkshire)

I don't have a bad PC it's a 12th Gen Intel i9-12900KF CPU and GPU is a Geforce RTX 4090, I have 32GB of RAM also.

I tried the usual 4GB patch again but it did nothing. Tried to adjust my settings a little, but I never changed them from before so I feel as though something has changed either with a game update or my PC. However my PC is running other games just fine.

I also wondered if it was a NVIDIA driver issue, I updated drivers, nothing. And also uninstalled the NVIDIA app to see if it was causing anything, but still no luck. I checked my processes and nothing else is running that's taking up RAM.

I know OMSI is not a very well optimised game, but I was able to run it just fine before and suddenly now it's acting like I am trying to play with a potato. I have not changed any hardware.

Could anyone give some advice? Has there been any recent updates that might have caused this?

Check, if no other software using cpu power or windows doesn't install a update.
Sometime a Windows update slowdown the computer

Dont think either was the issue unfortunately.

I have a feeling it's just the map I wanted to play, as I tried Yorkshire again and that was running fine and I was getting up to 100FPS.

I'm trying to play on Bad Hugelsdorf and I spawn at the bus depot with around 30FPS and after placing a bus and driving out I'm getting as low as 8FPS.

I tried to uninstall/reinstall the map but no luck. Guess its just one of those badly optimised maps. I just don't remember having this bad performance on it when I previously played it. Same with X10 Berlin.

I suppose maybe I should just do a fresh install and go through the pain of reinstalling all my addons again to see if that helps. This game really does test my patience lol

Check multithreading is still enabled, Omsi likes to turn it off when your not looking.

I didn't have reduced multithreading enabled in the first place, never needed it. Never had lag this bad before. But I did try enabling it and that did nothing.

I ended up doing a fresh installment of the game, no change. Adjusted all my settings multiple times but no luck.

Seems to be just this map (Bad Hugelsdorf). Just frustrating as I was able to run it fine in the past. Oh well. The other maps seem to run fine. For now anyway.

Specifically for Bad Hugelsdorf, for anyone who may be having a similar issue, I went into the logfile (Should have done it in the first place) and found that I was receiving a constant error "SoundSort Fail: Invalid distance calculation!" and the file was under 'Vehicles/Bad_Hugelsdorf_Taxen/sound.cfg'.

I'm not clever enough to know anything about this error or how to fix it, but I decided to just remove the folder Bad_Hugelsdorf_Taxen and its contents, and now the map works fine, no more lag issues.

Thanks a lot. I was having the same issue and it only fixed after setting the time around 9-10 a.m.

You can add -nolog to your launch options, that will usually stop the game from crashing if you have constant errors.
