Making a Map
Does anyone on the forum have excellent knowledge of making maps. After a few months now of playing OMSI 2, I've finally gotten around to trying to read the manual for OMSI editor and playing around with making a new map. However, with the manual, it is for OMSI 1 and aside from that fact , is quite broad and general. For example, can anyone tell me if when creating a new map, a new .hof (depot) file is automatically created? And if not, how does one go about making one?

If you have very good experience in making maps, please contact me as I will be trying to make a map based off of Vancouver, BC Canada.

Thanks for helping in advance!:steamhappy:

The .hof file needs to be created manually. But there is a tool which helps you:

(The link is on the last page in the last post)

I don't have much experience in building maps, so I can only give some tips...

@Steven92336:
Honestly, that is a bit brazenly. He asks for help for the editor and you secretly requests a specified map, even so he already mentioned what map he wants to make.

If you wish to know a good place to learn mapping, I know a place called Fellowsfilm forums. They are british mappers, so are fluent in English. http://forums.fellowsfilm.co.uk/

Also, when I attach a street (spline) to an intersection (object) is there special parenting or do I just get the two pieces close together and the AI will drive it?

You need to press Ctrl (i think, not completly sure what key it was)

Cntrl for....connecting the peices?

oh, I think I got your question wrong. The best way to attach an already exisitng spline to a crossing is with the "complete to..." function. (This is a part which changed between Omsi 1 and 2, I think the tolerance for the distance between the paths is bigger in Omsi 2 than it was in Omsi 1).

But if you want to attach a new created spline-part to the crossing or an other street you can press Ctrl to match them.

Oh. So OMSI automatically helps you make it connected and possible to drive the two connected?

Also, is there a guide document for all the splines in the simple streets add on to see an image of each road segment to its respective file?

I have a continuing series called OmsiJournals on Youtube, were I try to learn myself and give others some tips along the way. I'm a newbie myself, and my German is not that great. There's so few English "tutorials", so I hope to help, somewhat. Check it out, it's only like 15 minutes/video or so.
