OMSI London
Hi all,

I'm new to the omsi 2 game and do like the overall concept and detail that's gone into this sim. However i recently purchased the London dlc and the map crashed mid route. Also found that the game was very lagging in London.

I appreciate my PC is not the most powerful but i am able to play games like ETS2, ATS without lag. Can anyone help me as to why this game is so lagging in London and how to stop it from crashing.

Cheers in advance.

P.S in no way am i slagging the developers as i think they have a very good game here with great potential.

Welcome to the Sim, while it's a very neat one, it's generally agreed the optimization is generally leaving much to be desired. Even hardcore gaming machines can easily never exceed 30FPS with this.

While OMSI has GREAT potential, sadly it is no longer in development, anything you see added is made by 3rd parties, not M-R Software, which was disbanded after the two guys behind it decided to go their separate routes. Not sure what happened to Rudiger, but Marcel had gone on to create LOTUS, which is still in development, but can be a little pricey to get into right away ($50 for what currently amounts to a tech demo right now for buses alone, another $50 if you want trams.) Thankfully, it looks like they finally have passengers and a functioning IBIS, but it will be a while before they get to OMSI's level in terms of addons.

First off, I would recommend picking up the 4GB Patch from NTCore, and using it to update how much RAM the Sim could use. It should help reduce some of the issues causing crashes, and possibly issues regarding textures.

Next, London is known to push OMSI2 to its absolute limts. Frame drops, especially those that cause the famous "Jumping bus" are no doubt going to happen. There are some guides specifically made on how to play with the settings to at least help stabilize the Frames. I know some folks had made videos showing how they have their rigs set up for it. There are a few things, especially in terms of AI traffic that can be turned down to help optimize the performance.

Thank you for the info as you can imagine i wasn't aware the developers decided to part ways as they had a really good idea here.

Funny enough i did read some posts about the 4GB patch and installed it. Just managed to finish my first London journey. The lag was still there and i have turned down some of the settings already. Its a shame the game cant be anymore stable is regards to graphics. I could still play the game but it can get annoying when lags so much the game as to catch up kinda.

Not heard of this LOTUS game might look into it. Thanks again for the info really is much appreciated.

I can agree whole heartily that the omsi 2 is and has definitive problems, crashing, jumping busses and even map problems that end up with grass for roads, hedge blocking roads and it crashes. Even put the 4gb patch on and still have problems. For us it's a no brainer that this game is a dead loss, shame really as the London add on was a brilliant one but spoiled by the old base game OMSI2.

Yeah, here on the OMSI 2 forum, LOTUS seems to have a very mixed opinion. On one hand, the rate it is being developed at is very slow, on the other, it is supposed to go into what OMSI did, and then some more. The other thing is, it looks like it'll never go on sale either, looks like Marcel seriously doesn't want to do that, using the excuse of "lolz is EA game kthxbai."

I got on it not that long ago, and found that it is in pretty good shape. All that is really missing is a good selection of Addons, and a nice big map like Spandau.

OMSI is good but the lag can be quite bad especially for bigger and detailed maps like London. Other dlcs with smaller maps the lag is there but is not so bad. Bare in mind London is a huge and detailed map and may push the game more compare to other maps. It helps to have a decent gaming pc at least or if not you might have to reduce your settings and install 4gb patch.

It also helps if you wait at least 3 to 5 mins for the map to load and don't click anything or the game might crash.

It cuts down on the realism but, for me, reducing AI traffic to (or very near to) zero enables me to complete routes without the system crashing.

Reading through all the comments its quite clear the lag spoils OMSI. Suppose only thing i would say is why does steam give system requirements to play the game if even the high spec PCs our struggling? Couldn't that in some ways be classed as selling a unfinished game or miss selling?

Agree London DLC was very detailed and had some good roads to drive on. However, why create additional DLCs for the game if the overall game structure off OMSI is so bad i.e lag? I do find it annoying as the lag is the only thing that spoils what possibly could of been the best bus simulator on the market.

Bless those that could go to Brixton, at night, without the bus jumping in and out.
