Aachen DLC - Is It The Most Laggiest of The Lot??
Crikey oh riley,..Aachen DLC is a beautiful looking map with such detail. It's a very faithful rendition of the real bus route itself.

However, is it the most laggiest of the lot in terms of payware DLC? Did the Devs use a super computer at NASA when they coded this?

I drove on this for the first time yesterday and have been practicing with various settings in Graphics and A. I Traffic.

For me, it's the most laggiest of the lot that I own and I own quite a few. Berlin X10 and Haffen City can be a bit stuttery but I do have settings high enough to make the game look immersive without it looking like a baron desolate landscape but my driving sessions are enjoyable and um,..well, drivable.

But Aachen makes me need to turn things way down like 'Sheduled Priority' e.t.c. I still get some serious mini freezes, especially when using TrackIR. Looking left/right can freeze it more than any of my other DLC. This makes for a thoroughly unpleasent experience, especially when turning at road junctions.

Now here are my specs and it's no toaster but this DLC can eat my GPU and CPU for breakfast.

GPU - GTX 1080 TI

CPU - I7 - 7700k 4.20GHz.

16Gb RAM.

Internal SSDs for everything.

You mention looking left/right, this is probably due to the mirror's reflections loading in, perhaps review your reflection settings (for example turn down the reflection size or use economy mode maybe?).

I find this too, but since the patch they released it seems to be a little less laggy and my specs are just around near yours, bar the GTX1080.

Its due to the sheer map being objects rather than a mix of objects and splines and due to lightmaps, and general detail it's a lot to deal with, they tried to copy what the author to Hafen and Hamburg do but the texture quality is too high so id try the 4GB patch firstly and then set your target framerate at 35, play with reduced Multithreading and have your Max Tex Mem at 2048.0.

Thanks to both of you.

I already have the 4Gb patch installed but I'll try the other suggestions you both gave and see if that improves things a little more.

Yup! They don't call it Aachen for nothing (see what I did there?). String', I would recommend the excellent performance guide, which you'll find under ... er ... 'Guides' (tabs at top of this page). It not only gives recommended settings, but actually explains in words that us mere mortals can understand, exactly what each setting does in terms of performance value.

Thanks Biffer. I keep forgetting about those guides when it comes to troubleshooting my own in-game issues. Thanks for the reminder. I'll have a read and tinker under the Omsi bonnet.

Did you use the bus that comes with the Aachen map?
For me that was the biggest performance killer. When Aachen released, the bus was basically undriveable. It got much better with updates and is now somewhat enjoyable for me, but still other busses work alot better.
