Other than that it is rather easy to use
All you need to do is know the codes you have to enter (for each map of course)
There is a "Linie" key, this is where you enter the line code, than you also use the "Route" key for entering the route (01,02 and so on) for the direction of the line you're on or for short runs
Once these two were entered correctly, the right destination will show up and the passengers will enter
The easier way is the alt menu version where you just enter line number and destination without any special codes or anything, but you won't get announcements or information in the display ;)
Hey buddy!
Thanks so much for getting back to me..
I have figures our the alt menu and most of the game I just can't figure out the route system at all. I can spawn busses at different locations and once it's spawned I try and see what the location is and try and get something that starts there at the right time.. Hardly ever works but if I do get that far I then have issues with the ibis.
Say the route is 5e how do I put the e in the ibis?
I always get an error when selecting route 1 or 2 or any numbers just won't work...
I have managed to get passengers once as a fluke but had no idea on the skeduale or anything.. Just follow the sat nav and hope for the best..
I have 4 hours on record and had passengers once lol :(
I just can't get my head around it at all :(
I appreciate your time tho :) cheer buddy :)
Thanks buddy I didn't see the manual. I've just downloaded it and I'll read it and come back to the game then :)
First you click Line/Course button and you will have to enter a 5-digit line code.
The code consist of 2 parts.
The first 3 digits = line number (ex. 005)
The next 2 digits = special characters (ex. 10 = E, 36 = X)
Then you click Route button to set the route.
When you drive, use "Q" to announce next stop between stops on the route.
You can find a collection of all the line and route codes (or rollband number, if you are using the older buses) here:
OMSI 2 Forum[www.omnibussimulator.de]
Let me know if that helped you any further.
It's not really a game, it's a Bus Simulator and does have rather a steep learning curve, just like FSX and Xplane flight simulators so patience and tolerence does play a big part in Omsi. We've all been through what you have and even today, I dread buying new DLC because I know I'm going to have to learn another IBIS machine. Lol
Have you tried Mike's suggestion (Post Above), where he informs you about the easy option by pressing the 'ALT' key on your keyboard and you will see a pop-up box appear with lots of different squares all indicating a different action?
One of them is for selecting your timetable. Another one is for selecting the route number of your bus, e.g 137, and the destination that's indicated on the timetable you chose. This is the easy way of getting the bus to display the right destination and route number. No IBIS required.
The only downside with the easy option is that you will not get automatic bus stop announcements but then again, some of the older buses don't have announcements anyway.
Keep reading the manuals, keep watching YT videos and keep practicing with Omsi then suddenly you'll get the hang of it and you'll be Boss.
I will try that suggestion now..
I understand that you can do it without using the machine and I can input the desired info like the line and the tour but then pressing the next button that puts the info on the board I'm struggling to find the end route from the drop down. I pick the line I then don't see the end destination to put on the board. So I end up driving around with noone wanting to get on.
I have installed the Cotterell map and can get around that as there is only one route. It's the others I have issues with like express 91.06
For example I start at bievres gare..
Then line 11
Tour 11506
Find a trip that's in plenty of time.
Start at bievres gare to quarter residential
Select ok..
Now set line 11 and terminus I can't find in the list? Vauhallen is not there.. Ive looked and looked :(
I then advance the time so I should see passengers but none come and I drive the route but noone gets on lol...
Sorry to be a pain. I've watched videos but I still can't see what I'm doing wrong.
It's a great sim, I've 800hrs in ets2 I know this is a lot more detailed and harder to understand. I'm an aspie so this ticks all my boxes lol I'm just so frustrated lol
Thanks for all your reply :)
If you have looked inside OMSI2/vehicles/"any bus" folder, you will see several .hof files. These are the files that keep hold of all the routes and destinations for each map.
If you can't find the terminus for the map you are on, you probably don't have the correct .hof file in the bus folder.
For 91.06 search for Express 91.06.hof and put it in the bus folder for the bus you want to drive.
For Spandau it is important to choose correct .hof for the game year you are playing in. If you play after 1994, just choose that one.
Tip for 91.06. In the OMSI 2\Addons\Express 91.06\Divers you will find a .pdf with all IBIS codes aswell.
I am slightly more confused on the year you play on, I'm sure i saw a video on someone saying there are 2 routes before a certain year and after..
I am getting there tho! I managed to do am epic run on 91.06 using a man bus (looked 90s) and managed to get passengers on and off and got to the end where you get a pop out showing how you did!
This is amazing! The sounds are incredible! This is the best simulator I've ever played! I lo Ed ever second of it! I just hope I can replicate it tomorrow! As soon as I can I'm back on for another go! 😂😂 Getting late now!
Does anyone have any tips? Any great mods to look at? It's a total minefield at the moment I don't know what site is best to get from or what is good to get! Reminds me of when I started with ets2 all those years ago and getting to know what's what. Takes ages!
You guys have been super helpful and I really appreciate it :)
