And yes, 8gb ram is enough for OMSI, as OMSI can't take more than mere 4 gb, even if 4gb patch is installed. OMSI uses a 12 y/o game engine and 32-bit system.
I will try to lower those settings that you have mentioned. If you know, can you tell what is an optimal amount of sounds and AI buses, without the game being too silent or the map too little populated by AI buses?
Thanks for help.
BTW: I am really curious what is happening at MR Software, how is the company doing. Because they could at least patch this game to improve performance or at least make it 64-bit like Dovetail Games did with their Train Simulator. Only thing I can see how they are releasing one DLC after another. There are some (maybe majority) of really good quality DLC´s so I would not say they are milking their fans to get more money. Maybe there is a thread on this topic that I did not see here.
More easily, you can just simply install Routers' game preset. I have tested numerous options and presets, and it was the best preset among them.
Well, if the amount of 'scheduled ai' is too low like the guide and preset suggested, the game would be dull and boring. If so, I recommend you to set that up to 100, not over 100.
Finally...yes, this game will not be ever patched and is based on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ old engine from 2007 or 2009. The last official patch for this old game was on November 2016. Due to a conflict between Marcel Kuhnt and Rüdiger Hulsmann who developed OMSI 2, MR Software was dissolved in 2014. Some people said that developers fighted over how to divide profits from OMSI 2, and Marcel alone can't modify and correct game because of a copyright issue as some base elements are developed by Rüdiger who also owns the copyright for them and left the team, so that's why Marcel have decided to develop brand-new game LOTUS. OMSI is abandoned game. No more patches or fixes will be offered, only the official forum are supported.
Various DLCs are not relevant to MR Software. All DLCs are managed by Aerosoft, the publisher of OMSI, and made by modders all around the world. As we know, there are no decent bus sim that can replace OMSI. Therefore, we can see new DLCs are still released on this obsolete game.
Thanks for help/reply, I´ve seen the guide but not the Routers game preset. If the game glitches out like previously, I will consider using the preset (though Routers PC is most probably beefier than mine so I will have to look at the config file first)
An hour ago, I tried what you said previously and I saw a little (maybe larger) improvement of the performance in the game. I lowered the setting accordingly:
Amount of sound I dropped from 400 to 200 and to my amazement I heard some sound effect on the Scania like never before (I though lowering the sound amount will lower the amount of sound effect it will play but the opposite happened).
Unscheduled AI was dropped from 200 to 160 and scheduled AI was dropped as well from 50 to 40.
Regarding the answer of "What’s going on with MR Software?":
I didn´t know that happened, haven’t read it on any news article. That’s kinda sad. I would like to try LOTUS, I don’t know if it has a big community of modders like OMSI 2 does (correct me if I am wrong). LOTUS also seems to focus on trams (and other similar transport vehicles) as what I saw. I will rather wait till it will come out from early access. And I agree with you there is no other bus sim like this (bus simulator 20xx are mostly just one map one bus games well they added create your own line but that’s nothing in comparison with omsi).
