Omni Navigation - Whose Got It?
Has anybody else got this?

I downloaded Omni Navigation the other day. I think its a terrific utility for OMSI. It's a GPS map that you can resize in a window of its own which you can place in the corner of your screen whilst driving. You can even slide it over to another monitor. It has transparency settings too so it doesn't block out anything behind it.

Omni means you no longer have to have those awful bright yellow arrows with those big round 'H' green symbols along the route which can become quite confusing at busy junctions. This makes your world look more realistic without them. Once you've set your route, a red line appears on the map along with the little green 'H' symbols showing only your stops if you choose that option. That's it,..you simply just follow the red line to your destination. No more getting lost.

It's not freeware though. It will cost about 8 quid and you get sent a key for activation once purchased. You also need the latest version of Java (preferably 64Bit) in order for it to work.

Here's the bonus,..you get to see other players who are driving on the same map as you if you have the Online tab checked or you can remain hidden and not connect online. You cannot interact (Chat) with them through any type of messaging system, unlike AOD but you can see them and they can see you.

It's still on version 1 and it's still a bit rough around the edges but I'm sure there will be updates to improve it over time.

A quick update to my post of 29 May.

I finally got OmsiNav' to work! Don't ask me how; I don't know. Just deleted and re-installed for the umpteenth time and it suddenly decided to behave itself. After hearing zip from the developers for over a month I contacted them with the good news. They were very apologetic about not keeping in touch. Did this make me feel better? Well, I suppose so, but would have preffered it to work from Day 1.

Anyway, all good now. :steamhappy:

I still wonder if they are going to ever allow it to work in OFFLINE mode.

Not too happy about the always on online approach.. considering that I can play the game with Steam in Offline mode.

Wonder why they made it like this.

I purchased this product yesterday and paid through Paypal. I put all my details in and the payment was proccessed through Paypal. I did not recieve a code and it has now been 3 hours. The site said it should take 40 mins max. I have emailed the email on the paypal reciept but have had no response. Did you guys get the access straight away?
Stringbean Jun 15, 2017 @ 3:25pm
No,..I had to wait a couple of hours. I had to email the guy to explain that I hadn't recieved my code. He sent it to me rather quickly after that. Something to do with orders not always filtering through to him properly and end up going into his Spam folder - something like that.

Don't worry,..you'll get it. Best to send an email. I've noticed just now that the web page omninavigation.de is down at the moment for some reason.

I've seen your post on the OmniNavigation Facebook page so hopefully he'll respond. It's best to contact him via the omninavigation.de website because there is a direct contact email address for him but like I said above, for some reason, it's down at the moment.

I got it this morning. You were right about the email not filtering through. Will try out the navagation when home. Buzzing

Er ... I just went into offline mode in steam, loaded Omsi 2 and the OmsiNav loaded and worked fine. Have I misunderstood what you meant?

For anyone having doubts about getting this. Get it. It really makes the game just that wee bit better. You do have to install the specific java version tho. It directs you to the best Java to get tho......64 bit i think it is.

For me .. it gets stuck at 'updating' and never ever starts.

This *IS* a great app.. too bad OMSI 2 defaulted to the old approach of arrows everywhere.

THis makes it just sooo much better.

I'm absolutely loving Omni Navigation. Especially when trying out new routes. Just follow the red line without getting confused by all those arrows and H sysmbols everywhere. No more getting lost.
Sadly,..whenever I'm driving on a route, I rarely see anybody else palying at the same time as me on that route. There's loads of us using Omni but we're all on different routes.

Somebody on the Omni Facebook page asked if we could interact by at least tooting our horns to say hello. They said they might look into it but I doubt it will happen.

AOD (which I also have),..is the one for interaction via chat text speech. Pity they can't incorporate that feature into Omni.

Me too, Stringbean. I normally play offline, but if not, I usually flash my headlights when another bus passes in the opposite direction. Some day I'll get a shock when the other driver flashes back! :steammocking:

Just bought the Bus Company addon via Aerosoft (20% off pre-order), being the cheapest price so far. Looks like an interesting addon, let's hope it lives up to the hype, and brings the minute OMSI community to life - I'll also be recording a YouTube Series of it, so it would be interesting if I made a company myself, see if anyone wants to appear in it as my OMSI stuff does get a fair few views. :P

Meant to release on the 22nd (or the 20th) which would do me fine around my exams finished and my channel hiatus ending. As someone else mentioned on another thread too, does work with the lack of updates on the London project too. :)

I got omni navigation and once installed, when I try to execute it, it just didn't do anything. It also don't start when I start omsi. What is the email to the developers? Thank you
darren_paterson13 Jun 21, 2017 @ 1:20pm
Sounds like you need to have the correct Java version installed. When you open the navagation first it will ask you to install the correct Java.
A question I do have is in some add ons you see routes highlighted by the yellow arrows but the routes are not on the list of routes I can drive?? Is it something I am missing. Surely they have not put up arrows of routes and directions that I cant actually drive on aha.
