Solar Armor. The most OP armor in the game.

There's no point on using solar armor once you have anti-matter reactors. Maybe even fusion reactors.

Plasteel armor is a nice replacement (even if you play with long range ships. Being able to turn makes a huge difference).

And once you have Ionium armor there's no point in using anything else untill you get the "quatrinium" or how the heck that's called, the red armor thing.


The only races that have a reason to use solar armor even at mid-game are Rayleh and Vulfar, because they have very tiny ships. But once you unlock Dark Matter reactors it's just pointless to use solar armor.

Not everyone wants the straight up min/max. There are some very specific things to build ships that will completely outclass everything else - And then there's everything else.

I like beamboats - Even if they aren't particularly great.

Sorry dude, but beamboats are GREAT. They are the perfect counter against Gauss/MD spamm. Specially if you have fusion engines so you can close the distance way faster.

Tho they are very energy hungry, but as i said, when you get anti-matter reactors most energy problems get solved, and once you get dark-matter reactors it's just an energy fest.


Also beamboats are very fun to play, specially if you have a very tanky design.


It's not a matter of what's OP or what isn't. People just discovered Gauss/MD and spamm them calling them OP, when in reality the top dps weapon is... the laser cannon. Meanwhile, beams keep getting buffs.

In this game i have the feeling that almost every weapon can do awesome if you build your ship to its strengths

As Regularity pointed out, that's a horrible idea. Your ship gets tagged once and suddenly you have a power shortage and it can't do anything. You want your ship's power source protected, not dangling around on the outside of your ship asking to be shot at.

Guys, clearly we should stop relying on our own experiences and take one random guy's youtube lets plays as the most reliable source of information. Also the video's creator telling us to watch his video is purely in the spirit of a productive discussion, with no conflict of interest regarding him wanting to generate views for his videos.

(Seriously, I know you want youtube hits, but do you really think a slow-paced, 20 minute video is better for explaining whatever your point is than just typing a paragraph or two?)

EDIT: Just watched it. Over half the video is just him building a cruiser. He doesn't even test it in combat or anything to prove it's OP. It's just "the ship builder says I can power the weakest weapon in the game using solar power! And gives me the same protection as the weakest armor in the game!" Clearly, OP.

It's just a sensationalized clickbait title, like gossip magazines use.
