That's the problem with you young'uns. To much time on your hands. You want the world, but at 1/3rd of the price. =D ;) =P :)~
Weird, I just saw the Dev reply to a forum issue on Jan 18th asking for a Saved Game so he could try to resolve a problem. Maybe you're not trying hard enough. =DDDDDDDDD
I am hard on this game because it could easily be the best one if it wasn't basically abandoned.
On second thought, I don't think there is 1 advanced game out there to this day that is bug free. I do realize the game has great potential, and tons of bugs. I wish Zero would hire a team to help him, but not hurt his creativity. I also wish he didn't have to worry finance so he could work on this game and not worry about paying his mortgage or other payments he may have.
Anyway this thread was hi-jacked to the very max and I felt victim to you jackals =P
StarDrive 3 please!
My biggest thing now is the fact that the DLC is given to anyone for free because of the bug when they download the game, and Zero is aware of that, but he is still charging money for it on the store. So basically, he is charging someone $10 for something they would have gotten for free anyway. Either fix the bug, or make the DLC free.
+1
besides its still a broken mess and should not be on steam.
lets count part 2 as the first one ok ?
I researched. Thats the only comment you made that holds and credit. Its why I never bought SD2. SD1 had about half the things promised for it literally never introduced. PROMISED, during EARLY RELEASE. Which, coincidentally, is when I bought it assuming those promises would be added. They never were, and I had too many hours just trying to get my moneys worth out of the alpha to get a refund.
Those of us early backers were then told, if we wanted all we had been promised? We got a small "discount" on SD2, which would give us the things PROMISED in SD1, and SD2 would be fully finished.
Guess what? Not finished. Also, I think 20% discount at the time? For people who spent 35$ on a game only to be literally told by the dev he was going to drop and never finish, and if we wanted promised updates we had to shell out even more money to him for a newer version of the same game? Talk about destroying credit with your backers/early supporters.
Along with this, anyone who spoke up in any kind of negative light about his decisions was banned from the games forums. Total censure. I learned this during my quest to find said forums and find out why the game wasnt being updated during SD1. He was even offered HELP to finish the game, free of charge, and refused. Watched it happen.
Also, the excuse he "has to make his mortgage payments!!!11!" youre affording him hold no water. Hes made a KILLING off of SD1 and SD2. SD1 sold at 35$ for EA, thousands of copies. Yet was NEVER completed. Also now there have been no updates for SD2 since Jun 22 2016. Thats 8 months. My decision to never give my money to this thief has been thoroughly justified now, as hes abandoned the second game as well.
Hes made thousands and thousands off of people for 2 incomplete games now. Hes NOT struggling financially, I can almost guarantee that.
If OP wants to keep giving him money to give incomplete games and keep burning players with broken promises, thats fine, more power to him. But for the love of everything good and sacred when it comes to video games, do NOT try to defend the crooked actions the dev has taken! Simply say you like his game, and would like another.
If you wish to say more, at the very least acknowledge the dirty/criminal behavior hes shown, and then say that despite this you still want more games from him. It gives those of us whove felt burned/betrayed by the dev no reason to call you out, as youre admitting the dev does super crappy things (which is pretty much all were saying and wanting admitted), and still says you want more games from him.
The original had really good designs and ideas. I enjoyed what it had, but in no way did I feel like it was a finished game. It was a good demo, not a finished product. I dont pay for demos. No one does, knowingly. I sure wasnt going to pay twice to get the game I was promised the demo would turn in to.
The second game isnt finished. Glaringly obvious from all the bug posts and negative reviews. Yet isnt getting updates. Money has been exchanged, promised goods/services have not been provided. Thats illegal, in the physical world, but in the gaming world we call it abandonware.
Admit its abandonware OP, and say you want another helping.
Everyone else, avoid this crappy developer like the plague.
Matter of Opinion. Game feels finished to me. I've played plenty of games and finished them with little to no bugs. Maybe i'm just lucky. I enjoyed the game, but im ready for SD3 hopefully with more mechanics from SD1.
Everyone has had a different experience, for me it was good. It didn't work out for you, that's unfortunate.
Something I have been pondering is turning games from products into community projects. My current concept I am calling "Open Source Game Foundation", which could be thought of as an empty game designed for users to easily add new content, and run mods. Being free open source software an entire community can directly fix bugs and add new features. Naturally the biggest problem is that the system requires end users to create content for other users to play.
A work in progress example is I have been working on a project to create an open source game foundation similar to SD2: http://www.indiedb.com/games/open-space-4x.
So a counter question would be is it better to wait for another product? Or an open source game foundation with the same features and mechanics?
