Is this like that Flash game Motherlode?

I heard once that this game was somewhat like the old flash game Mothelode by X-gen Studios. For anyone that remembers that, is it? I loved Motherlode when I was a kid. Who would have thought that mining could be so much fun...

There's definitely some inspiration seen from it, Motherload obviously having been inspired by Dig Dug. Other than the mine down/return topside/sell/upgrade loop, SteamWorld Dig is definitely its own take on the theme. It also has some excellent platforming and puzzle solving from what I've encountered so far.

Coincedentally Super Motherload released yesterday on PS3 and PS4. It looks a bit too hectic for my tastes though.

Zinfinion's description is pretty close to the mark. Steamworld Dig has more of a platforming feel to it, but in most respects the games are fairly similar in playstyle.

Well, SW Dig is pretty much a carbon copy of I Dig It (https://youtu.be/fxahQ-rQCZw?si=TtBuTsro7JplakuI), but with different visuals, and added combat.
