Fast travel?

IMO, it's really tedious to keep backtracking into town. Is there anything I'm missing how one can go back more quickly?
I guess self-destructing would be a way... if one didn't need those items in town.
Or is there some upgrade one receives? I've played for about 2 hours by now and am Level 3.

I was actually very close before my first teleporter.
And for anyone else who stumbles across this in the future: One can freely place teleporters that one can buy.

You can buy a teleporter later. Make sure you use wisely because when you use it, the previous one is deactivated.
