Not a good game
I wasn't expecting a great game, really. From the early videos, it was clear that it wouldn't be the Double Dragon that would rival the original. And indeed, like all of the DD's (except DD2 maybe), it's rather bad, "meh" at best.

Let's start with the graphics, as it's the most obvious. They're gay. And I don't mean it as an insult, they're litterally gay-looking, that is, it's like every character is part of the Village People. Why not? Well, because that's not how the original DD looked like.
I can understand there it comes from, but there is a margin between the look of the 80's and this. Aside from looking gay, though, they're not artistically "bad". I mean, this is not amateurish, only bad taste, or an image of the 80's from someone who was born after the 90's.
So I already knew it looked bad, but I kinda enjoyed the game's humor in some video, so I decided to buy it anyway.

The controls: they are terribad. First, you can't customize them. That would be good if they were well picked, but of course they aren't, who are we fooling? To start with, if you're an unfortunate european on an AZERTY, switch to QWERTY or it's just unplayable.
The mapping is centered arould the left CTRL/SHIFT/SPACE. And what's in the middle of those keys? ALT, which brings the window's menu & makes the game not detect a key up, so when you hit that key, you're in trouble. (I know.. "use a gamepad"... If I wanted to use a stinky gamepad I would play on a console)
As for the combinations.. a punch while running does a sliding kick, while a kick while running does a shoulder attack. Makes sense..

The gameplay is sluggish, it shows that those who made this don't really enjoy beat 'em ups. It's way too slow & too smooth, and not really fun to play.

It's the kind of game that smells like a tablet game (even though there's definitely details & depth), except we're on PC. Now all this game needs is a built-in trainer/cheat, so that we don't waste our time (or suffer) replaying the same levels, quickly beat the game & move on to something else.
I've only played 2 levels and I haven't much seen of the humor that I saw in videos. Tried to play online, but of course no one is really playing.

Oh I forgot about the music. It's acually.. good! Yay..

seriously, using 'gay' to mean stupid?

It is a PC port of a console game. It plays best with a pad or stick.

Using 'gay' to mean gay. Some would say it's 'neon', but so is Far Cry Blood Dragon, which manages to be 'neon badass', not 'neon gay'.

I've never heard anyone describe a video game's graphics as "gay". You must be 10.

I for one get you OP, the game looks incredibly gay. Super gay.

Welcome to the Epic: Troll / Newb / Donkey - List
OP needs to do game reviews Gay or Not Gay.

"This game is terribullllll, the graphics are gay and the controls are gay. I rate it Gay."

The humor is even better with a Bro by your side. Different dialogue for one and two player modes.

did you at least get to Skullmageddon?

yeah, there I lost, got disgusted that the continue started back at the beginning of level 2, I looked for a trainer, found one but decided that I wasn't ready to run an exe from a shady place, so I got myself other, better games in the sales, & moved on.

I wouldn't mind the difficulty if the game was fun to play, though.

Man you haven't experienced difficult if you haven't gone through to the game without a sosetsitsu or a stance. No sosetsitsu is doable, but no stance is just suicide!

Steam Level 0 reviews! Because you have worth!

It's not a good game, it's a great game. It's far superior to any other DD game that came before. Seriously, those just sucked. I'd play Final Fight over them any day of the week and I never liked Final Fight (I'm a Streets of Rage guy).
