Update Notes for March 14, 2025

First and foremost, thanks to all of you for a wonderful release day yesterday! The response has been amazing and I'm so glad folks are enjoying the game. You have blown us away!

I have a couple quick updates out for the first 24 hours, mostly relating to better serving weaker or older machines:

Patched a bug where stuff wasn't saving for users who have special characters in their Steam names. Bigger fix with character validation coming later; for now if you create a username stick to alphanumeric characters.
Fixed a bug where using the arrow keys in solve mode super duper early in the game caused an endless while loop and crash. Coding rites of passage bingo card, check.
For weaker machines, you now have the option to try playing without the graphical bells and whistles, using "Lowest Quality" mode from Settings - Graphics.
For the Vulkan error (crashing caused by older/integrated graphics cards) you can try putting "--rendering-driver opengl3" in the Steam launch options (without quotes). This has largely solved things for at least a few users in the Discord. Thank you to Plurmorant for this suggestion.
Added a resolution scale to settings. This can be used to reduce the impact on your machine by up to 75%, at a significant cost to visual quality.

Wrapping up (maybe)... help me tie up some loose ends.

So I accidentally spoiled a couple (very small) things, but probably no big deal - I thought I was in the late enough game for this, but apparently I might not be. I have all the Cyan letters. After that it's kind of a brick wall of wandering aimlessly, since the Hinterlands are no longer useful (as far as I know) you're basically at the mercy of the internet for random nudges. I don't know if there's something that unlocks upon getting all the Cyan letters, but if there is, honestly feel free to share, a...

Cyan J and color sequence. Did I somehow miss an entire location?

So I have every Cyan letter except J, and I seem to have 8/12 of the endings, and don't know how many Golden Smilies I have left but the counter on the grave trophy reads 15, which I imagine relates to that (though I think it represernts more than one thing?) Anyway, Cyan J. I actually skimmed the board a bit and people seem to be talking about a bronze tower in Daedalus? I don't recall entering any tower there, was this place accessible the whole time? I do see a multi-layered bronze-ish tower in the dis...

Any explanation for [REDACTED]?

So in the little orchestra room, one of the four panels has "redacted" as the prompt. Going by the theme, it should logically represent percussion , no? Is there some kind of Easter Egg/gag involving that as to why it would be 'redacted'? Or is it just random?...

I'd like to get in as much as possible before resetting - almost did but then I found out about Icarus , which isn't linked to any smilies, endings, or achievements. I would have assumed it's just shortcuts. There's no tally machine yet like Lingo 1, right? Would be nice to know if I found all the Easter Eggs/shortcuts. Currently working on that above aformentioned area, but anyone have a comprehensive list of panels that would be "missable" in the sense of being possible to get achieve...

a hole you keep digging and digging and digging and digging

I had to play this on "easy mode" (making extensive use of the first letter hint button, anagram solvers, and digging in steam discussions for anything I was stuck on) and still enjoyed it quite a lot. every time you think you are almost done you stumble into some new ♥♥♥♥ and it's confounding. The map design is still questionable but I think it's probably more managable than the first one thanks to the separation of spaces into their own themed areas and addition of fast travel

I'm still not sure how much more I want to search, it definitely gets frustrating at points, but those are usually the times when I have been running around for hours and should probably take a break lmao
