Evading the Proxy?

Are there any tips on how to evade the Proxy in the mine level? She scares the s*** out of me!

Is it true that if you turn off your flashlight she won't be able to see you?

Blind her by focusing the flashlight, even if you don't need to keep her back. You'll often gain temporary sprint from this. Some theorise she can't see you if the flashlight's off but she can still hear you. Also in the large room with the stairs going up, to the left of the starting room, go up the stairs and across the room to where the railing has been broken off. Wait for her to approach you, then blind her with the flashlight, then jump down back to the ground level. She can't jump down after you, so it's a good way to get a headstart if its convenient, plus will probably give you extra sprint.

And yeah she scares the crap out of me too. When I first was playing, the fact that I was terrified of her was what mainly made me take a while.
