Yeah, that's sad, but we'll be waiting for American McGee comeback

The main downer is that EA does not allow him to make Alice 3. I hate EA as a company.

We can send them our "regards" here, i did: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/electronicarts

actually the MAIN reason its not coming back is because the devs said they lost the source files

So what? There's tons of games on Steam without source code, mostly of course retro stuff running through emulators, but quite a handful of Windows era games — Hogs of war for example.
And unlike Hogs of War AFAIK Grimm does not have any compatibility issues?

The main reason is that the company is defunct — they don't have bank account, can't receive money. Even if they make all their games free — they need to operate as an entity and pay taxes, which is not feasible.

The only way for the game to come back if someone bought their assets.

no no no, they themselves literally said that it was because they lost the source code that they would no longer update this game a few years ago so even if the company was not defect right now it would still not get any updates

Well, okay, but that's different, they could leave it without new updates as long as it runs fine on PC modern configurations.
Yeah, i heard they lost the code even before.
The fact is you can keep the game on Steam without source code, but cannot without the legal entity and Steam partner account with a working bank account. I'm in Steam publishing business (with a separate account, this is my private one) and know and seen Steamworks innards, documentation and stuff.

well even if the source code is kaput. They can hire reverse engineering + just extracting models and assets and reworking the game into a proper game engine like unity. Its mainly that there isnt anyone that has a claim of ownership that cares enough to put the game back on steam.

Oh no, it's not worth the effort/human resources/money/time for such game, trust me. Not that the game is bad, it's simply a really hard task, no one does it for such cases.

Yeap, that's the main reason like i've told above. Spicy Horse is defunct, and their assets are either in limbo, or in someone's pocket who does not care enough to bring it back, probably because it won't make a lot of money.

I do wanna say, it's not on Steam anymore
BUT it IS on Gog still for $10 I just bought it there today because I've given up on it ever coming back on steam. So I'm never gonna be able to get the episodes I'm missing on steam.
At least it's on other platforms but not steam. When was it removed from Steam Store?
KISS PUBLISHING LTD owns the rights now. Theoretically they could bring the game back.
The cheapest price for Grimm is over at Zoom-Platform: https://www.zoom-platform.com/product/american-mcgees-grimm-complete-edition

Seems like a rights collecting company i doubt they are really into making games. But hey heres hoping they revive this game. its not like they can make new levels, they might be able to make a new one. Oh and you can get the game for free on archive.org It has all the levels and episodes. :realmrat:
