1s biggest thing holding it back now is the gameplay part, specifically the combat being very very basic but at least its quick and the "dungeons" and powers are still pretty fun to explore/use/find. Dialogue is still as well acted as it would be in the sequels, and the story is a good foundation with a main character who turns out to grow into a bigger villain by the end of the game, instead of learning to be a hero.
2s biggest problem is the "Everything". Story is a mess that Defiance had to then make sense of (and it did a decent job at it, but that credit goes only to Defiance), the gameplay is a repetitive boring mess "block simulator", and the rest is just generic. And while the acting for Kain is as perfect as ever, thats the only thing pushing many to even keep playing.
1s is fine. Soul Reaver 2 makes it even better.
But Blood Omen 2 is shallow, almost nothing happens, and the dialogue is a whole bunch of nothing (other than Kain's perfect performance as always). To the point where it was so hastily written, that some plot holes (Vorador being alive somehow) didn't have time to get fixed in Defiance.
Like having Umah when she was still human (and with a more sensible design) help Raziel with something. Theorized to have been the cut "revive Vorador" plot explanation. And then Dark Prophecy would have taken some of the horror designs of the Hylden from that game, and have them fit the series much better. The more alien style of Blood Omen 2, but with much more attention to detail.
