Corrupted save file
I'm half way through the game, and now my save file is corrupted. When I try to load the save file the game closes out completely. There were some artifacting issues prior to the initial game crashing out. Textures weren't loading (solid black areas with sparking white boarders) and then ultimately the map disappeared and the character fell endlessly. I saved and tried to reload, but now it wont load at all.

Same thing happened to me just now. I regret saving it.
same Issue here, I was at Zephones Cathedral, jumped on a Pipe and suddenly fell into an endless Void. I saved in the hope that the Save will just reset my Position, but each time i try to load the Save my entire Game crashes.

The exact same thing happened to me, in the exact same location.

Check this folder for the save:
C:\Users\_your_user_name_\AppData\Roaming\SRX\_number_\savegame.dat
Note that the folder AppData is hidden one.

The possible solution for such cases (without saving to obtain corrupted save file) - use the "Inverse / Zero Gravity" feature of my mod "SR1 Enhanced Edition" for original game which was partially included into remaster. Read at the end of this guide how to use it (it has the name in it - "Fly On").

From the other side, another features that I suggested in this my thread (Teleport by Map and Autosave) could easily solve this issue too while now you can do really nothing with this corrupted save and no one from remaster's team (neither devs nor fans including Raina Audron) can help you by 2 evident reasons: 1) they do not have the needed knowledge; 2) they do not appear on the Steam at all and do not provide the tech support for the game they sell here. :steamthumbsdown:

BTW: since I have the knowledge about saves and the experience of tech support of LOK games during 15+ years (with creating of my own mods, part of features of which were included into remaster - though in non clever way), I can try to fix your save if you will provide it for me.

I find it quite troublesome that neither the Devs nor the Publisher seem to respond to these Problems and it seems this isnt the first and only Thread of this Issue.

Nonetheless, i uploaded my Savegame on Mediafire, hope you can download it without Issues.

sorry, had to cut the Link, otherwise Steam wont let me post it.

I fixed your save file - now it is loaded without crash. This.[drive.google.com]

I took the data for Raziel for corrupted save (#2) from your previous save (#1) and updated the number of Health Emblems according to data on the map (abilities and Mana Upgrades should be the same). It is the only data which were lost due to internal game bug when you obtained corrupted save. All other data should remained as it was in your save before its corruption.

Replacing savegame.dat in the case if this file is synchronized with the Steam Cloud:
1) run the game;
2) Alt+Tab to desktop;
3) copy fixed savegame.dat into the needed folder with replacement of this file;
4) return to the game;
5) load your save.

BTW: about the reason of the crash - it is very strange and can be easily fixed by the code.

P.S.: as I saw, the Debug Menu in remaster is not adjusted (as it was in my mod for SR1) - it does not update the values of HP and MP in real time + it is impossible (in remaster) to set the correct number of Health Emblems and Mana, though abilities can be adjusted without problems.

Thank you very much.

I will take a look at it later, currently quite busy with work. :/

BTW: exactly the same problem as early, so exactly the same solution.

how is it that you seem to fix the Savesgames that easiely, but the current Devs not only seemingly didnt notice a 2 decade old Bug, but dont even try to fix it, alltho quite a lot of People experience it? Cant be that difficult, right?

It is not "2 decade old Bug", this bug was introduced in this remaster - I saw never such issues in the case of original game, though I provided tech support for it during 15+ years.

And there are no problems at all with finding the reason of this bug and fixing it - I found the reason of this bug and fix for it just in several hours (starting from zero and having the save of another one).

BTW: I provided the info about this issue and solution of it for the Aspyr's support on Saturday.

Oh, i see, well thats then a mistake on my Side. I thought reading about this or a similar Bug at this exact same position in the older Games. But yeah, maybe i confused the 2 Versions when reading about it. Whoopsie. :)

Hmpf, can only hope that Aspyr will fix it. Would be great tbh.

In the original game (and in remaster too, of course) there is also another bug with the same name ("corrupted save file"), but with the other behavior - the game is crashed after intersecting of the edges of locations and this happens due to another reason than the bug of this thread (i.e. in the case of the bug of original game there are no problems with the loading of the save at the starting location, there is only "corruption" of some part of save file which deals with the certain location only). I solved the described bug of original game in my mod "SR1: Enhanced Edition" for original game and demonstrated the video with the loading of such "corrupted save file" without any issues (if one uses the mod) while using of the same "corrupted save file" in the original game without mod causes described crash of the game.
Is there a write up on how to fix the corrupted .dat file?
