Where can I get the Original Release of Soul Reaver?

A few years a ago I purchased all of the Legacy of Kain games off of Steam except Soul Reaver for some reason it was unavailable to purchase yet having a STORE page with a blurb how the game will return to the STORE page. Well, still waiting and now the Soul Reaver's Store page is gone and replaced by the remasters. I do want the remasters but also want a complete collection of the originals on Steam.

The original game(on Steam) doesn't work about 99% of the time. You'll have better luck flipping coins until one lands on it's edge.

This is also true for Soul Reaver 2 on Windows 11.

There are mods that could fix it but I just don't trust them.

Also there are sites where you could buy Steam keys but I don't know if there's a rule against recommending anything specific so I'll just leave it at that.

Alright, but for what, just for the icon? The original PC port was bad when it was new and time only worsened its problems tenfold.

You can still purchase the game buying ''cd keys'' if you find any....

You can't buy the game bc that version included a fan patch that changed the original videos to BIK files that could be run under modern OSes with Bink library, yet Square Enix nor Crytal Dynamics had no rights from RAD Game Tools to use Bink in SR1, so they had to delist the game bc of those copyright issues and it seems they just can't be bothered to implement their own in-house fix for the videos in SR1 on modern OSes, even less with remasters right behind the corner, so I wouldn't count on them ever going to re-list the original Soul Reaver

I have the original on steam since i bought it before they delisted it, and i was lucky enough to not have any issues after installing a few trusted fixes on windows 11. Went through the series with a couple friends about 2 years ago and it and Defiance were the only ones i was able to get running with no issues after a few minutes of tinkering.

Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2 were impossible to get running no matter what i did though, and that sucked because Soul Reaver 2 is my favorite one gameplay wise and we ended up just having to watch the cutscenes for those.

Which is why i'm glad this exists because if it can run at all it's already met the bare minimum.

If you have a fat wallet, there are some keys on resellers floating around, but since it got delisted the price sky rocketed.

Honestly, buy a Dreamcast and Soul Reaver for it, or emulate that version, it's the best way to experience it right now, the PC and PS1 versions have digital controls, whereas the DC version has analog controls, so you're not stuck to moving in 8 directions, and the player model for Raziel is much better in the DC version.

On GOG ya can get the original Legacy of kain soul reaver 2 and the other one is called Legacy of Kain: Defiance

Indeed, especially with the HD textures pack made by Raina Audron, the executive director of this remaster. There are few more fixes beside textures such as controller prompts for xbox and playstation controllers. OG PC version of Sour Reaver runs fine on Steam Deck under proton, oddly enough.

The PS1 version does have analog controls though.
