This remaster indeed ends with a cliffhanger since Defiance is not included.
I hope they make the remaster of the rest of the games shortly after this, they did it with Tomb raider so the chances are high
The E.G. was injured and Kain was now aware of the true source of Nosgoth's suffering and decay (and the true obstacle between him and world domination). There was also the plot hole of Vorador's unexplained resurrection in Blood Omen 2 and Janos being stranded in the Hylden dimension. There was still plenty more story left to be told. Unfortunately Blood Omen 2 was a total piece of hot trash that killed the franchise.
Maybe we get a new part after they remastered the old ones, Crash did got a 4th title after the remaster collection ( i know different devs, but its in the zeitgeist of remake/remasters at thte moment and some hope is left).
Unfortunately, from my understanding, very few of the people involved in the Legacy Of Kain series wish to continue it, as the voice actor for the Elder God, Tony Jay, passed away in 2006. Since he was an integral part of the plot, and his voice was such a prominent part of the franchise, all involved believed it best to put Kain and Raziel's story to bed rather than see it to it's end without the talent of such a legendary voice actor.
Currently it seems like Embracer's goal after buying so many classic franchises from Square Enix is to make modern remasters of them, which is certainly a good thing as many of these games don't play well on modern hardware. Whether that will evolve in to them making sequels or continuations of these is yet to be seen. They also now own Thief and Deus Ex, so we'll likely be seeing remasters of those classics next.
No, it would have been continued with "old" Kain, leaked demo footages showing him on different places as the player character.
Ooooh, I was thinking of Dead Sun, sorry, got mixed up.
No porblem, dead sun was in a more finished state and there was more material out there. But to be frank i am happy this got cancelled, it looked like the "i go through my edgy teenager phase" and the writing something else.
What I saw and read about Dead Sun, makes it more look like a giant middlefinger towards the old Fanbase given how they threw the established Lore and Worldbuilding under the bus in favor reaching the "wider audience" with tumblr esque writing and such.
"♥♥♥♥ you Vampire!" comes to my mind.
EDIT: For what it's worth, I've heard a lot of Blood Omen fans complaining about Raziel throughout the years, how he is so "emo" and gullible compared to "edgelord" mastermind Kain. I probably missed the point of Blood Omen, but a lot of Blood Omen fans apparently missed the point of Soul Reaver, as well. Maybe Blood Omen isn't the cup of tea of the majority of the Soul Reaver fanbase, as is the case of Soul Reaver not being for Blood Omen fans, too.
right now i playing Defiance on the PS2 again and it aged well for my suprise. Would just need some upscaled graphics and some camer adjustment and the title would be good to go.
Maybe add Blood Omen 1 in the bundle (and completly remake BO2 to actually fit properly in the timeline)
