Legacy of Kain Defiance
So, the game basically "end" with a cliff hanger in the next game of the series, Legacy of Cain Deviance... I wonder if there is a chance to see the rest of the history now. :steamhappy:

Theres no cliffhanger, Defiance ended with the end of raziel and kain's story, also the elder god being defeated. No to mention Blood Omen 2 story that follow up like a continuation of the story of defiance's kain.
This remaster indeed ends with a cliffhanger since Defiance is not included.

I hope they make the remaster of the rest of the games shortly after this, they did it with Tomb raider so the chances are high

The elder God was not defeated and Kain's story was not completed.
The E.G. was injured and Kain was now aware of the true source of Nosgoth's suffering and decay (and the true obstacle between him and world domination). There was also the plot hole of Vorador's unexplained resurrection in Blood Omen 2 and Janos being stranded in the Hylden dimension. There was still plenty more story left to be told. Unfortunately Blood Omen 2 was a total piece of hot trash that killed the franchise.

Blood Omen 2 suffered a lot of the cut costs to make SR2 and Amy did her best to save it with Defiance. But i wouldn´t call it a Cliffhanger, more an open end to the story.

Maybe we get a new part after they remastered the old ones, Crash did got a 4th title after the remaster collection ( i know different devs, but its in the zeitgeist of remake/remasters at thte moment and some hope is left).

There was a game in development called Legacy of Kain: Dark Prophecy, which would have concluded the series, but it was canceled. So this is the ending we are stuck with.

Dark Prophecy starred a different character in Nosgoth, and as far as I'm aware, had no substantial connection to Kain and Raziel's overarching story.
Unfortunately, from my understanding, very few of the people involved in the Legacy Of Kain series wish to continue it, as the voice actor for the Elder God, Tony Jay, passed away in 2006. Since he was an integral part of the plot, and his voice was such a prominent part of the franchise, all involved believed it best to put Kain and Raziel's story to bed rather than see it to it's end without the talent of such a legendary voice actor.

Currently it seems like Embracer's goal after buying so many classic franchises from Square Enix is to make modern remasters of them, which is certainly a good thing as many of these games don't play well on modern hardware. Whether that will evolve in to them making sequels or continuations of these is yet to be seen. They also now own Thief and Deus Ex, so we'll likely be seeing remasters of those classics next.

No, it would have been continued with "old" Kain, leaked demo footages showing him on different places as the player character.

No porblem, dead sun was in a more finished state and there was more material out there. But to be frank i am happy this got cancelled, it looked like the "i go through my edgy teenager phase" and the writing something else.

What I saw and read about Dead Sun, makes it more look like a giant middlefinger towards the old Fanbase given how they threw the established Lore and Worldbuilding under the bus in favor reaching the "wider audience" with tumblr esque writing and such.

"♥♥♥♥ you Vampire!" comes to my mind.

There's no denying Dead Sun would have been way too edgy and we're all glad it didn't become a thing but as for it being a middle finger towards the old fanbase, well, maybe to the Soul Reaver fanbase, sure. The first Blood Omen fanbase is pretty edgy to begin with, that game is basically a human-turned-vampire revenge story with lots of bad goth visuals, over-the-top characterization, not to mention the extremely cringey Renaissance Fair pseudo-Ye-Olde-Medieval-English that so many fantasy games still insist on using. I'm glad that game exists, or we wouldn't have gotten Soul Reaver, but other than that the fanbases don't particularly overlap (with some exceptions, of course) and tend to want different things from the franchise.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I've heard a lot of Blood Omen fans complaining about Raziel throughout the years, how he is so "emo" and gullible compared to "edgelord" mastermind Kain. I probably missed the point of Blood Omen, but a lot of Blood Omen fans apparently missed the point of Soul Reaver, as well. Maybe Blood Omen isn't the cup of tea of the majority of the Soul Reaver fanbase, as is the case of Soul Reaver not being for Blood Omen fans, too.

Defiance was far from the ending to anything... Kain's still sitting there watching his younger self refuse that nasty ass sacrifice while he's chilling atop some mountain. Who knows what would've happened next. Truth is, Raziel was just too popular with the kids back then and now it's borderline impossible to continue the franchise without him reappearing, therefore my prediction would be, if this remaster gets enough traction and substantial sales, the next game in the series will retcon Defiance alltogether and put Raziel back on the map. Just watch it throw logic out the window to cater to SR fans, its gonna happen.

right now i playing Defiance on the PS2 again and it aged well for my suprise. Would just need some upscaled graphics and some camer adjustment and the title would be good to go.
Maybe add Blood Omen 1 in the bundle (and completly remake BO2 to actually fit properly in the timeline)

I bet we will get those games as well. Kain 2 for sure along with a updated defiance. Tomb Raider is getting that kind of love, I can see this happening.
