Mana Heater Quest
5 hours and 10 minutes in, I went to Ishk, and I talked to the guy near the heater. He said it'll last a couple of hours. I then immediately went to talk with Claudia in Hrukk, who gave me the Spare Heater Core (dead), which has an inventory description at the bottom of the page. I dropped by the Library at this point, to check something out. After using Thunder Struck to charge it, the on-screen prompt told me that I received Spare Heater Core (charged), which does NOT have a description at the bottom of the page. So I went back to Hrukk, which, turns out, was evacuated (?). No people inside it, mana heater broken, no available promps, nobody to talk to, and I'm taking damage from the cold. This is 5h15m in the game.

What now?

Okay this is REALLY late, but I've just encountered this very same problem. I wanted to ask, where do I insert the global.ishk_lost=0.000000 save edit? I tried it in vs_settings under [misc]; it sort of worked the first time (the mana heater suddenly was working and no more chill damage) but the villagers didn't return. Didn't work at all in subsequent tries.

Hope you can help; otherwise I'm very tempted to drop this hairpull-inducing game after this latest OMFG incident.

You don't insert it in vs_settings. It already exists in the vvv*.dat files, which are your saves. You can open them with a text editor.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuude!!! Thanks so much!! It worked! Sorry if noob; I've never manipulated a .dat file before. Your fix is the only one that can be found anywhere on the interwebs. Hopefully, it helps others, too.

Okay, back in the game. Again, many many thanks!! ^_^

Just tried this method as I thought that I saved Ishk from it's doom. Thanks :D

I do the Engineer's palace before the Mana Crystal Mine, so there's no chance of messing it up. Would make more sense to have the fail condition be using the divine key instead of getting it.
