I haven't been this obsessed with a single player offline game since the 90s. I was hoping there was more planned.
When did they say that, specifically ?
I just hope they're in a good financial situation, regardless of what they plan on doing next. This game is really underappreciated compared to other indie games. Sure it's not as polished in general, but the combat/gameplay is way more successfuly ambitious than most games (not only indie games).
In any case, the ending is really strange. It set up for a possible sequel when you talk to Valdis but after the credits it skips to what would be the main point of the sequel, which is Reina developing her potential while also gathering people for her army. Vladyn's and Gilda's post-credits scenes are also really contradicting in their intentions of a sequel.
I interpret Gilda's ending as an intetionally improper closure to the story because otherwise it would feel a pretty crappy of closure (time vs budget issues), so they did an open ending which is not exactly open because you can safely assume everything went well, Reina killed her sisters and everyone lived happy.
Someone asked this question:
"Any chance that the original Valdis Story (the 2007 title that had a demo released, but never materialized into a full game) will ever be reimagined? Abyssal City is pretty damn good, especially after the content patch and we want more."
And they replied with:
"There are more stories to tell in the world of Valdis Story. Will the one told in the original demo be revisited? I am not sure. However we will need a break from Valdis Story before we dive back in. VS:AC was huge project!"
So yeah, it's pretty likely that we'll get a sequel someday, just not right away. And that's fine by me.
Well, at least by the way they worded it, things are fine for them, which relieves me.
