Mage sword or Poison bow for Int Wyatt?
Heya so I'm replaying the game since I gotta unlock everything again (had to do a factory reset on my PC so lost all my save data and stuff) and am doing a Int run for Wyatt and was wondering if either the mage sword or poison bow would be a better weapon for him?

um you might want to edit the title.

you can actually make an int build for any weapon. the easiest (or more reasonable) weapons are the mage blade purgatory, heretic blade purgatory or dual blades with magic weapon

magic weapon uses magic instead of attack to do damage

the mage blade is a little different as it is a magic weapon but it has the element type of one of the spell slots (it was either the up magic or side magic), attacks cause the status affects of equipped magic (so burn if its fire, ect). however heavy attacks don't get increased damage (they do the same as light attacks) and str doesn't raise the damage either.

I've never used heretic blade purgatory so can't help there

Dang it, I've no idea why I keep typing Vladyn when I mean Wyatt. >.<

Anywho, thanks for the info, I'll go with the mage blade purgatory then. I was just thinking of the bow since I figure the poison could benefit Wyatt with that last skill that doubles the power of afflictions and figured that with fire and Warlock Vestments could make Wyatt a damage over time master and keep him able to dodge attacks while keeping the damage rolling, but I'm guessing that wouldn't work well.

The poison only works with heavies, i.e. the arrows. And Fire Brand only works with lights, i.e. the dagger strikes. I thought of the same thing when I played a Bow Wyatt. No dice. What does proc though, on bow hits, are the dark/light/neutral blades, as well as Volt Aura or Warp Blade.

The jump arrows though, work in a similar fashion to Vladyn's shotgun. I mean that in terms of power.

I tried a build with full INT Wyatt, Magister Vestments and Sorcerer's Regalia along with Mage Blade Purgatory. It worked really really well. Only issue, no crits. But who needs them with Fire Brand.

Ah, well in that case, Mage Blade it is lol. As for crit, I'm not much of a fan of crit on my mages as I prefer either damage over time, massive resource regen to spam spells all day long, or raw power to just decimate people. I usually leave the crit for Agi type classes in games (e.g. archer, rogue, ninja, etc.) since they usually can get crit in spades.

Poison Bow is very viable with an Int character. Sure, Weapon buffs only effect the Dagger, but Poison is very strong as it is, plus, as articulate said, Volt Aura and Warp Blade can stack.

An important thing to note is that magic attacks cannot crit, so you really don't need it in a Magical build. If you're using a Magic Weapon, check out Crusader Amulet, it has a nice effect, and no downside in that kind of build.

Both, Magic weapon is good and poison is probably preferable over the other option, and seeing the damage grow is not always so matterful, the issue is how survivable the build can extremify its damage. For the opposite weapon path, it is not preferable to follow to its conclusion for crit.

Although it is good to limit how many weapon paths you take, since there are many weapons (Unarmed, Purgatory, Twin Judicator, Bow/Dagger, and Golden Shell.) and only upgrade paths for 3; resulting in effectually limitless versatility but inconcise damage. (Decays over a build while it being unpreferable and unnecessary)
