The next game is still in development - I am, at the moment, waiting for sample merchandise for the Kickstarter to be delivered.

While it will be announced in many places when it's actually ready, if you want to get on the kickstarter notify list for launch, the placeholder page can be found here

Will there be an option to pre-purchase a DRM-free version of the game? Like on GOG or itchio?

For practical reasons I usually run the kickstarters so that backers get itch keys by default (it's the easiest way for me to handle the rollout because itch has backend automation for it, also I prefer to do beta on itch rather than steam Early Access) and then can claim steam keys from their itch account once the game launches on steam.

So you get both itch+steam by default.
