Angel of Music, Champion of Lumen?

An interesting question was posed on the wiki: can you get Angel of Music AND have high lumen approval? I figured that was an easy yes, but then I tried it and have yet to succeed.

I scared of Ixion's troops with magic, I printed propaganda, I spoke up for Julianna when she helped with the Wife Killer and I melted dear Togami's heart but alas no! My approval was still neutral?

I didn't hit any negative hits, unless Lucille being accused by Sabine counts? Or has overal approval mattered all along and we never knew? Or is it really not enough?

Isnt making a Speech about Lumen at the beginning a better Option?
As for the Tournerment did you do Pro Lumen thing?

Im not sure but isnt scaring Ixions Troops with Magic a bad thing for Lumen approval?

Well she's using her magic frighten off an occupying force, not nice but still considered protecting her country with magic in a similar vein to using her powers as a canon in the naval battle.

But for now please explain what you mean by "speech about lumen at beginning" or what part of the tournament is pro-lumen? You don't mean the duel do you?

1. (The Speech) I think you could chose to make a Pro Lumen Speech by saying i will Lead the Parade and Make a Speech and then chose Pro Lumen Speech, which is at the beginning of the Game shortly before the Noble Meeting thing and Dance Partner choice. (But prob. an Assassin gonna attack you and i guess if you dont wanna be cruel not killing it would be best choice)

2. (Tournerment thing) im not sure if im at the right spot but you could choose Pro Lumen Propaganda for it other then Prises and such. Maybe even doing Singing contest and then going into a fight with Kevan and killing him with Magic might be a Plus or it just boosted your Curelty.

Anyhow i havnt played since a few Months so im not really sure about it.

It's a printing not a speech, the speech is about the religious festival she's attending. They both come up back to back when Joslyn is talking about upcoming events at one point. I did do the printing one.

Killing Kevan is actually one of the biggest wounds you can deal your lumen approval score this side of the Kraken. Cool one liners are great, but refusing a duel in favor of just immolating your would be opponent? Yikes.

I'm 90% sure the music contest isn't Lumen related. But I'd love to be proved wrong. Does she glow or something and I never noticed? <3

Dunno but since you do Angel of Music it would fit way better todo it xD
Also i thought it would maybe boost your Apeal in General but not sure, as i said its a bit of time since i played but ehh i got Time now so i gotta Try to get those both in one Run

I'm late to the party, but I tried it myself too. Alas, it does seem impossible to get high lumen approval (and sailor Briony) on the music route.

I also appointed Lucille as Lumen Minister (no sign that it does anything, but it saves the trouble of the assassination attempt on the way to Gwenelle's party). It took a few tries to trigger all the prior events in time. (arrest Julianna, free her after the snake incident, become a lumen, get meditation to 80 in time to trigger the event with the mentor before the ball)

There are only 4 independent points at which Lumen popularity can be increased. Angel of Music means giving up the most powerful one.

I'm not sure how many of the rest would be needed to get Lumen approval, but I suspect all of the remaining 3 would be needed. You're looking for ways of using magic that spare Novan lives and show how Lumen powers can be helpful.


All of these require being a Lumen, which needs Accounting or Presence.

1: Ixian crisis - 2 choices: either prepare for battle and use battle-magic successfully there to stop the battle without loss of life or intimidate by demonstrating powers. Wield Magic needed for both (you'll need to rush to get the crystal and train in time). The latter also requires Presence.

2: Invest in printing (Production and Trade). The week before the Parade for the Feast of the Good Lady, the printing press will commission its first print. Select "Pro-Lumen propaganda". This requires good knowledge of lore (and to be a Lumen).

3: The wife-murderer trial. Requires Julianna to be Elodie's tutor, some Wield Magic or Resist Magic, some Meditation or Composure, as well as Public Speaking and Presence.

Full statistics for someone trying to get all 4 of these and also Angel of Music, ignoring other prerequisites to survive to this point (this will also not show when each of these stats is required - I do not yet know if this is possible in natural gameplay):

Ensure that Julianna is either never arrested, or that the first request for release is accepted
However Elodie chooses to deal with Kevan, don't use magic
Avoid the ritual for the naval battle
Don't decide Lucille is guilty or banish the entire family if the spy reveals the plots[/spolier]

Just done a trial run and it's good news, bad news:

Good news: You can have Angel of Music and all non-exclusive positive Lumen events on the same run, while also avoiding all negative Lumen events.

Bad news: That won't net the pro-Lumen ending. Looks like one needs to also do one of the two methods of using Lumen powers to defeat Shanjia of which the population approves.
