Sins of a New Year
We are back and eager to push out more updates. We've done 29 since March and we aim to continue the same pace in 2015. While I had expected to spend much of my holiday vacation away from Sins of a Dark Age, I actually spent a lot of the time watching Soada Twitch streams from a fantastic group of tightly knit new players, MMOBomb, and all our previous dedicated players.

The simultaneous arrival of many new players and the networking effect of talented streamers has really helped to spread the word, shorten queue times and generate lots of constructive feedback. Personally, I think I underestimated the effect passionate streamers (including one crazy 24 hour streamer!) could have at this stage of development. As a result, we have decided to change a few things around in the schedule in order to implement some of their recommendations and add some further support for Sins of a Dark Age streaming. I'd like to call attention to a couple of the streaming changes in the works - though keep in mind this doesn't cover everything.

First, we'll continue to issue keys to dedicated streamers which they can distribute at their discretion (contact keys@ironcladgames.com if you fit the bill). Next, we are going to phase out in-client screen capture for Twitch streaming. Unfortunately, Twitch discontinued support of their SDK which makes it difficult for us to optimize it as we can't access the code. But, on the bright side it looks like streamers prefer to use dedicated software like OBS which are regularly updated with optimizations and customization features. So, instead of trying to replace dedicated streaming software we are going to focus on providing in-game support in other ways. The simplest example is we are going to improve our other Twitch integrations like being able to send and receive Twitch chat from within the game client.

A more elaborate Twitch integration goal is to allow Sins of a Dark Age Twitch streamers to giveaway rewards to viewers. Each official streamer will receive a special button that will randomly select a viewer and give them a Sins of a Dark Age gift. These may include crafting material bundles, recipes, Hero Gear or even a Hero Skin! The more viewers you have the better the reward. Once used, the gifting power will go on cooldown but you can reduce the cooldown by streaming. We hope this will help tighten the relationship between streamer, viewer and Soada.

The Sins of a Dark Age community is growing and development continues at a steady pace. Looking forward to a great 2015! Thanks for the support!

How fast was that, manny? O_o
I love the fact that your going to be taking the more community focused approach like Waystone did! That and the devs passion for the game is something that i feel really helped shaped the amazing community and passion that we had for Dawngate. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see where the game will go!

I have a veric pic or pun ready at a moment's notice.
I'm looking forward to this very much as a streamer!

(Also, I really wish we could just let old games die peacefully without bringing it up in other games. As a developer myself, I'm sure the Devs of Sins would really appreciate it if we wouldn't bring it up on their pages / in their game. I have vowed to not talk about that game any longer on stream to allow it to R.I.P. -- Lets move on from it and enjoy this game to the fullest.)

My apologies Majeye. We have been trying to very respectful in this difficult situation. I mentioned it here out of appreciation to that community but I can understand your position. I will edit it to something less direct but should still communicate the message.

To be fair to the good intentions of the dev that started this thread, isn't it kind of counterintuitive to post the name of the game that you don't want anyone posting about? I'm not trying to be a gadfly here or anything, but I've seen firsthand just how powerful the Streisand effect can be, and I think the same sort of logic essentially applies here.

Personally speaking, I actually think it's really genuine of IC to explicitly name the game a lot of this newer wave of streamers moved over here from because the contributions of the Waystone community are now permanently engraved within the annals of SoaDA history...but perhaps that's just me =P

Exorcised -

I totally agree with you and will edit my post accordingly. My post was a blanket statement and wasn't towards the devs at all. Everytime I log in game, everytime I join a soada stream, everytime i see something posted on twitter with soada tagged.. its all about that game and where the gamers are coming from. Which in itself is great, I'm glad they're finally finding a home.. but let the game go already. Stop comparing this to that, etc. This game is fantastic in it's own right and doesn't need a former game shoved in its mouth daily to show what they should be doing. They're already doing everything perfectly from what I can see.

In closure, I love Sins of a Dark Age and am looking forward to seeing what comes next within the game. :)
Well, your post makes much more sense in context now, and I apologize for questioning the merit of a stance that you're clearly not even taking.

I agree that it may be a bit detrimental to Sins for people to be discussing Dawngate in its stead, but keep in mind that much of the conversation surrounding that particular game is only going on right now, in the post-holiday wake of the title's dissolution. As with any "big" news in gaming, the story circulates for a good while (and will do so a bit longer in Sins circles specifically, for obvious reasons) before fading out eventually. Also, the old adage of "no publicity is bad publicity" is keenly relevant with Sins's current phase of development, because it adds the inflation of playerbase we were starting to need recently (and the devs have been addressing in the past few weeks consequently.)

Finally, I think that once the people "baited" into playing Sins by all the Dawngate talk start to see what's in store for them, as you said above, they'll be so happy by what's here that they'll most likely forget whatever it was they enjoyed there.

Thanks for the chat, though, and happy streaming ;D
Again, I couldn't agree more. :) (and couldn't have said it better myself)

Here's to seeing you in game sometime. *cheers* <3
Will be waiting for new patches fyst. I know you people are trying your best here to make the game more enjoyable for everyone.
Can't play these days got finals and this cold is killing me, i get fever very easily these days i am weak like that :(,

Still the day finals are over will be celebrating playing soada. :)

P.S: i wish i could stream but failed horribly as i don't have enough bandwidth (4mega bit download & 1 mega bit upload) or the latency do it properly, otherwise i would be streaming every game i play.

The developers have reached out to Twitch streamers as part of a giveaway promotion. Your best bet would be to watch any of the current streamers here[www.twitch.tv] and ask about a key. Be sure to give them a follow to support them as well if you could!
